Cool... next year its all hortinova... the clear stuff is a PITA in comparison. You're probably better off that Onetime never got back to you.

Right on. I would have just sent it back and kept waiting :) Luckily I didn't have to hassle!

guys how important is it to attach the hort to the bamboo? ive just been draping it on top and fastening the stuff to key branches so it wont shift down. i do make sure one of the holes on each strip has the 8' stake i used for the sup lighting goin through it. but thats it.

I'd tape it... and also put in some supports across the the plant for the netting to drape over. You are gaining some support, but srom a structural perspective, the more fixed points that the netting is tied to (and that are not your plant) the more structurally sound your plant will be against wind. As we get each plant dialed in, you can see an immense difference when its breezy between plants that are done being trellised and those that have yet to be completed.

I taped the shit out of it. Gorilla Tape for the win. The 1" handy rolls are perfect.

alrighty then, i was caught up in the bruce lee philosophy; bend but dont break, be like water, hortonova is the new school, avoid hard fencing young master. then again i dont have 14 ft trees like you guys lol.

it still moves, LH... but instead of moving violently, the force of a gust is distrubuted to all the points of connection.

If B. Lee's skeletomuscular system had not been tied together at a million points he would have been a puddle instead of a waterfall.

lol puddle.

id like to say here for everyone, on my experiment of clover cover vs. straw cover on the pots.... straw wins. for a few reasons:

1-a side by side cloned plant comparison - the one with the straw grew bigger. not a whole lot, but noticeably.

2- for the occassional bucket bath, or pumping of tea via hose, the straw cover is a nice diffuser.

3- this hasnt happened yet, but it itches the back of my mind: now that the clover is covered completely by canopy, being dark and cool is a recipe for powdery mildew. some california burclover was somehow mixed in with my clover and is a known carrier of pm around here. its a constant search and destroy. i dont know if the california bur was mixed with the clover seed, or what, but i do know that the pots with only straw dont have anything growing in them.

i can always use clover to cover during the off months and turn the soil before the season starts. hell i could cover with alot of really good beneficial plants, nettle and alfalfa?

Hey guys, I just got my Brix-Mix today. My question is, is it too late to apply? After reading through this thread it seems like I may have missed the boat. Looking for some adivce on if I should still apply. I dont have any bud formation yet.

Also, I see you guys are using the ATV sprayers w/ an agitator. Can you spray without the agitator? Or is there a smaller version for us backyard growers? Thanks in advance!

Disaster strikes!

Had two of the "gift from the landlord" seed plants throw male flowers over the weekend. Had to chop them. One was the tallest in my garden. That hurt.

Oh well, they were freebies and not part of the original plan. At least there's still four left with strong female flowers starting.

Are we talking about Bruce Lee,because that's a topic I love to discuss. Martial artist make the best growers. Bruce Lee was actually a Hash fanatic. He never smoked it but ate Hash Cookies all day every day. And back then he only ate Hash made by Monks from Nepal which was probably some of the best in the world although before my time.

Hey all

Got the privilege of visiting humboldtlocal and ganjaD's farms and have to say I AM IMPRESSED! Like "holy shit, batman"-impressed! Nothing like a little inspiration to keep the fires burnin', eh?

Also spoke with Tom Hill and he asked that I pass along the message he's up to his eyeballs and will get back to the forums when he can. Sends his love, though!

Entering the home stretch now, everyone. Keep it green and happy gardening!

Nice area up there. My Friends lived on Mt Aukum

Aukum Sockum : Red Leb/ Afghani

Thank You, Mt. Aukum is a beautiful area (a little further up the hill than I am). It's funny you say "up" there I always think of myself as being one of the more "Southern" of the Norcal people on the thread, but I guess we have the state covered top to bottom. (along with many other states, and countries, I know)

As for Aukum Sockum, I have never heard of it before, but I got to say that is great name.

Question for outdoor growing and fertilizing frequency- I've got a Purple Power that's about 5 ft tall. Deer topped it for me about a month ago, so I've got several buds that started forming about 2 weeks ago. I've been mixing a tablespoon of Schultz tomato bloom fertilizer in a quart size bottle of water and feeding the plant once a week for the last 3 weeks. Should I be fertilizing more frequently? Should I increase the dosage? It's a 5-5-15 ratio. Peace.

When Im flowering my plants, I like to use full on organic stuff like earth juice. I actually feed every watering with a lower dose.

PS That Damn Deer!

yo ganja d,
is that rumor or fact. ive never actually heard that. and my instructor started out with dan inosanto one year after bruces death and is the same age as dan is and bruce would be. but it doesnt actually suprise me as ive found that many people id never think were tokers, or in this case eaters actually are.
wonderful addition to the conversation.

tom - we'll see you when you return.

home stretch guys good luck all...

Anyone have suggestions of what they use for a big initial blast of liquid bloom ferts? A couple days ago I threw out a ton of high P bat shit, tossed some handfuls of chicken shit and a buncha liquid seaweed.. While that breaks down though I was wanting to buy a gallon of something liquid, mix it with 5 gal of water and throw 5 gal on each plant.. I'm thinking PBP or Earth Juice but really don't have a ton of experience with any of these because I'm normally a home-brewed guano tea guy.. Would love to hear some suggestions what would work for a one-off blast to get em kickstarted into flower..

As far as the girls, our biggest , tied down, is now 8 foot long by 8 foot wide by 5 foot tall.. It's just AWESOME to see. Average size is around 5x5x4, some bigger some smaller. We pulled the green-painted hortonova over them and that worked just fine and it's almost impossible to see the stuff from over 10 feet away. We sprayed another round of Spinosad and there have been no signs of caterpillars on the plants yet.. Just one green one roaming around in the grass so far..

One of them, the one I mentioned earlier that was the SWT#3 that was molding, we decided we're going to dig it out of the ground and transfer it somewhere indoors to finish.. It's just going downhill too fast way too early when not a single other plant is molding at all.. I'm thinking it's not even mold and some kind of virus instead because it shouldn't be happening anywhere near this early. Everything else looks killer and I'll probably have some pics in the next week or two, just been too busy and running out of daylight getting this transition phase all settled to snap any yet..

Anyway, any suggestions on the liquid bloom ferts would be great to hear otherwise I'll just go with whatever's cheapest that I've heard of before..

Thanks a ton

BB
