Why it's a veritable forest in there!

It'll almost be a shame to see it all get buried.

Good Day Pipmslapped!

I trust you had a good weekend!

About that turning under... Here is a bit of wisdom I've enjoyed often.

The Byrds (thanks PS)

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time to build up,a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a season (turn, turn, turn)
And a time for every purpose, under heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time to love, a time to hate
A time for peace, I swear its not too late .. Turn Turn Turn:

Good morning ( my time ) to all... Having a cup of coffee and enjoying the green.

I got busy with things so I had to let the alfalfa go. Infact I didn't water. Why I mention that is that alfalfa has a wonderful abiliuty to pull water from low in the 2 feet of soil here.

I will try to get to turning it under soon. You see I like to take my time and enjoy the rich earth . Yep I play in the dirt too! LOL...

Might wanna reread the first line of the song there... think your fingers slipped. :spank:

Weekend wasn't too bad, though I worked all weekend. My job doesn't have weekends off, rarely 2 days of in a row. Tonight is gonna be the fun time, got a few sample nugs just dried up from a small bagseed girl harvest, gonna enjoy my night off methinks.

Definitely a good choice of music there, always liked that one myself. But it's kinda like knowing that everyone dies... then seeing your favorite goldfish go belly up. It's a natural thing, but that doesn't mean it's one that you eagerly look forward to seeing.

I mean hell, I've been watching that sunflower since it was a little seedling, just a mere hint of green.... We've got history man! I've known that guy since he was thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssssssssss big! :badday: :badday: :badday:

Okay, on a more serious note... (Hard to be less serious than that though, I think...) Glad to see how nice and green everything is there. Looks like some very nice lush growth, should provide plenty of sustenance for the girls who'll find a home there.

Out of curiosity, how long are you planning to let the bin sit after turning? Never really worked with green manure at all, so curious about the time frame you allow for breaking down the freshly turned material. Alfalfa has a fairly extensive root system as well, right? Going to break that up as you turn, or is it not really an issue? Sorry for the somewhat newbish questions, but I find this interesting. Something of an application of crop rotation in grow bins....

Yep I see the typo...

Oh man the time is moving too fast this morning.. ( I'm still sleepy )

I don't know how long it will take but I will be adding materials like bone meal and what not when I turn under.
I expect that to heat up the soil again.
I'll guess that it will be safe for seedlings 7 to 10 days after I turn under.

And hey, that SF is getting big! Not bad for 500 watts of MH about 3 feet up.

I believe I will only turn the top foot of the soil this time. I've read that it's better to leave the lower soil untounched.
How that applies to a 2 foot deep planter bed I don't know. Sound easy tho.

Just from the small amount of greenage I turned under I could tell the tilth improved.

" Tilth is an Old English word used to describe the structure and quality of cultivated soil. An even older meaning describes it as the cultivation of wisdom ..." http://www.snovalleytilth.org/

"Tilth is something every farmer can recognize but no scientist can measure." -Walter Russell

Heh... I'm easy entertained this morning...

That may well be the mantra of Organic growing.

Now for that second cup....

Hey everyone!

As I mentioned , when I turn this cover crop under I will also mix in materials such as Azomite..

I'm open to suggestions on the other materials I should add.

I figure the soil could use a general enrichment.

So how about some suggestions?

Thanx...

What is in the soil now/going to be turned under already? I know we'll be having some Alfalfa+Sunflower, Azomite... what else is already in the lineup to be added?

And thanks for the house man! I love it, plenty of room to stretch out and look at that view... Enjoyin' while it lasts.

I got the whatevers left...

azomite, seabird high in N , dolomite and whatnot...

Today I watered. I had let it go for a few days to see how well the alfalfa did and it did well.
I decided to water.. They never drooped once that I could tell..
The alfalfa seems to have sent roots low into the soil in a hurry IMO.

Todays photos.

Thank you SilverSurfer_OG

it's 4x4x2 so I figure 32 cubic feet of soil.

How is that Reclining Buddah?

Buddah is top notch mate!

Needs a while in veg so perfect for outdoors and is sposed to take a fair bit of humidity in flower so great indoors and if it rains lots in the autumn... thats the theory anyway ;)

2 foot deep? Cool. Cant wait to see how your real plants go.

I hope you all had a nice weekend!

Well the good news is my supplies are ordered. I decided to try something different so I will announce that when it's time.

A suprise!
