i am not, i just assumed the meme was about those types of right- wing grifters that pretend to be independent.

perhaps prolly my favorite pol- pundit is kyle kulinski, seems he's about as independent as it gets without being some guy with a mic,comp,camera (actually he started out as that, i think)...

A journalist in my opinion should be someone who reports the news and leaves interpretation to the listener. Talking heads with a fancy microphone or on a network are all as bad as each other.
edit: the closest I've heard lately are the straight newscasts from BBC, Aljazeerah (sp?), Democracy Now

I'd say a journalist can have opinion, but it must be based in truth and they must demonstrate the highest levels of integrity, otherwise, they are liars. The news anchors and reporters should be neutral, in my opinion.

I listen to Democracy Now every morning. It is truly astonishing how deceptive and evil Amy Goodman is. I used to be a fan.
