the CLONEMAN project - PTK-cross test

bonecarver_OG

a long time ago (more than a year back) i recieved some beans from Cloneman ( ) - i finally got a possibity to grow them out well this winter - im now a few weeks from harvest and i thought id post how its gone this far.

the seeds i recieved were of:
PTK/SCBB x PTK - pine tar kush / salmon creek big bud x pine tar kush
SSH x PTK - super silver haze x pine tar kush

there is lots of documentationof the parents - so i will do just a small intro to them.

PTK - a pure inbreed pakistani
SCBB - a select big bud clone
SSH - more than well known

conditions:
grown under 600W HPS / m2 in COCO wioth CANNA coco A+B nutes - also i have made some use of ATAZYME (kind of breaks down things in the substrate to make it accessible to the roots) from atami and also ATA-XL (just some stuff for promoting rooth growth).

sprouting and vegging

sprouting and vegging

PTK/SCBBxPTK:

seedlings:
all seeds sprouted - some of them getting several sprouts from same seeds - twins and even triplets. the strongest and quickest ones were kept. have to say they sprouted really quick - almost a 24h things. from seed to seedling with cotylodeons.

veg:
these have a very kind of lush indica look to them - they are very short and nice in stature. the internodal distance is not many cm´s at all - its such a compact plant - most have their 7-8 pair of branches growing out and they are not even 35 cms high :D

the leaf are very wide and cover a lot of space - enough to be blocking other plants - its obvious these babies like light a lot :D the colour is a nice deep green tone :D

SSH x PTK:

seedlings:
also this one hade 100% sprouting rate :D as quick and reliable as the PTK/SCBBxPTK - no doubt about that.

veg:
the leaf of these remind me of some interesting indica/sativa hybrids ive grown before - and also of some african strains - the leafs are also big.

the sativa influence is not too noticable to start with - its a very short compact plant - atleast to the moment. its got short internodal distances, however not as short as the PTK/SCBBxPTK. the way it grows in a tight x-mas tree like shape in veg is very promising - lets see how much those branches grow up in first flowering stages :D

early flowering

early flowering

they are packing on resin. some of them a lot, others less, but all of them looking very promising.

there is mainly 3 phenos this far in flowering, judging only by looks (cant smell a darn thing for this cold i got :) ) but soon enough ill know more.. .. ;)

PTK/SCBB x PTK

a - is a very lush, wide leafed and short internodal distance and very litlle side growth or branching - very nice looking.

b - slightly smaler leaf, a bit longer internodal distance, but looking promising also, also almost no branching.

c - the tall, lush and big bud pheno got more branches than any other of the SCBB/PTK x PTK - most promising looking yield wise. really this is pheno looks first similar to the a - but it has more vigor, its like a version of pheno A on steroids.

d - there is one more plant marked as SCBB/PTK x PTK in there, but its so different im starting to think i might have mixed it up earlier - its taller, it got double seration on the fan leafs - a slighlty un-usual trait.. its looks a bit like the D pheno but oversized.

mid flowering

mid flowering

PTK/scbb x PTK:
very very beatyfull plants. i wrote on an other thread, that this far in flowering there is 3 phenos (not counting smell or potency etc - because im not comparing that now) what tells these phenos apart are the way they look now. (also i have to say inside these phenos there is some slight variation - in visible resin, nodal distance etc - but however not much).

A- is a very lush, wide leafed and short internodal distance and very litlle side growth or branching - very nice looking. quite resinous, and getting about foot-long fat top colas. thre is 2 of this pheno, but one of them is more resinous that the others. from this pheno it was hard to find any clonable branches - for a mom of this FIM would be a must. smells very sweet and fruity - pear-like with a slight hint of apple or mellon hehehe

B- slightly smaler leaf, a bit longer internodal distance, but looking promising also, also almost no branching. this one looks first like less productive bud-wise but its got resin enough to be promising still. most of the plants of this cross is looking like this pheno - with slight variation. also i have seen this pheno on the grows of the other guys in the PTK-cross-test grow. smell is acidic like a mix of pear and carambole (starfruit) and maybe premature pineapple.

C- the tall, lush and big bud pheno got more branches than any other of the SCBB/PTK x PTK - most promising looking yield wise. really this is pheno looks first similar to the a - but it has more vigor, its like a version of pheno A on steroids. by far this is the most promising looking of all of the SCBB/PTK x PTK crosses. also the good part about the clones i took a while back - they are from this pheno, and of pheno B. smells sweet and a bit hashy with fruity undertones, hints of fruity chewing-gum.

D- what the hell is this.. a SCBB/PTK x PTK but it grows as tall as the SSH/PTK, also its leafs are different to the others of the SCBB/PTK x PTK - because some leaves have double seration (double saw blade pattern) think a weird "M" nstead of the normal "/\" it that makes any sence. also this pheno is very resinous, but it does not have short internodal distance.

SSHxPTK:
they have started flowering a bit and the different phenos are starting to show..

this far there is more or less very little difference between them in general - but here we go:

A- shortest internodal distance. more rounded seration on leafs. resin build up starting.

B- medium internodal distance, leafs with sharp hooks, also gettin resinous just now.

C- long internodal distance, leafs show similarities to both phenos mentioned. about same amount of visual trichome coverage as the others mentioned here.

late flowering

late flowering

PTK/SCBB x PTK

pheno A is covered almost 70% brown hairs but there is no orange trichs in sight yet. seems to be a perfect pheno for indoor 8 week grows,. its got a bit of purple in the underside of the leaves in the kola. its got a slightly skunky smell, but the fruity sweet pear smell overides the skunkyness. this pheno got a nice calyx to leaf ratio - its got a bit of leaf in the tip - but its a few big fat leafes that covers it up and hides the goodness - i got a surprise checking up on it today - its made a huge leap towards maturity since last week. very promising pheno - good yielder also.

pheno B is also getting brown hairs but looks like it is going to go a bit longer than the A pheno. this pheno has an extremelly strong odor - this really stinks - but in a nice way - its an almost rancid, sour pear/fruityness to it - this one smells much more stronger than the A pheno. its buds are small but very compact and resinous looking -might not be a good yielder but awesome smell and look - bet the smoke will be the same.. calyx to leaf ratio - medium

pheno C this one is still producing hairs but its so huge and so resinous.. its got a sweet spicy smell, maybe a bit of a tone of spicy meat-stew hehe but with a hint of fruityness to it.. its got really good calyx to leaf ratio. very nice specimen..

pheno D has also started maturing.. its really like a huge version of the B pheno - so it really looks promising - its about 2 - 4 x the size of the B pheno but the rest is the same - dont know smell yet - cant reach it to touch the bud.. its got a dark menacing look to it :D

SSH x PTK

pheno A this one is extremelly smelly, skunky, rancid, overpowering - one of those that makes ur nose twitch.. its got tones of fresh fruits like pineapple and pear - hehe a PTK strait for sure, medium yielder but very resinous. its still got a bit to go.. this one got a medium calyx to leaf ratio. short girls

pheno B this one got a sweet skunk pear smell - the yield will be ok from this one , and also it got more calyx to leaf than the A pheno - medium tall - nice sized buds

pheno C this one is a good yielder and very resinous - the top kola is about 40 cm long and fat - yes more than a foot my friends - its also the tallest of the SSH cross phenos - this one got nice kolas quite far down in the bush.

aditional info - plants have been very healthy and lush all the way thru veg and flowering - they did not want too much nutes (never went over 28 ml coco A+B / 10 liters) and they react very well on CO2.

smell levels have been very low all the way untill the end - and still the pear smell is the one that greets u at the door of my flat - like a very nice air -refreshener - even with my carbon filter etc.. it doens treally remind me of any other strain i have ever grown - to notice the skunky, acid and spicy tones u must rub parts of the plants. but still i can gfeel the smell at my desk and im 2 rooms away and its about 10 meters maybe.. but as i said - a strong pear smell.

- now a break -

soon updated with:

- before harvest report and harvest report
- smoke report without much of a cure
- smoke report cured

peace

Hey Bone,
Here´s my indoor PTK,from which the cuttings come from.I´ve chosen this because it´s so columnar and has those drooping (downwards) leaves of the Kush types :D
Ps.:It´s pajarraco-resistant :joint: :D :D

B

bonecarver_OG

hehe pajarraco resistant huh :D hehe beatyfull plant :D

i have a PTK/SCBB x PTK pheno i find relly similar to that one, - what do u think?

now when i think about i should maybe relabel than pheno - the PTK pheno :D hm hehe there is only one of all of them looking like that - the others are different :D i kind of grouped it into the pheno B - because of all similitudes - but i will make a mental note to check the difference between that and the pheno B a bit more and see if there is really a 5th pheno also.. or if its just a variation of it. peace :D

more flavours _ more fun :D seems like its gonna be a very very nice havest :D im so fortunate to have these - a big hats of to cloneman :D

Hi Bone,
I chose that pheno for my indoor grow because of her columnar structure, and because I think it´s a throw-back,a blast from the past...the kind of plant you see that has not been tamed for indoors yet...ejej
Anyways,If you look at the base of the plant,yo´ll notice that the lowest branches have been removed (for cuttings)Well, the plant was started last April 18,and the cuttings taken in June. They have withstanded all sort of raco´s torture and are still alive and well, ready to be transplanted. They are pretty old btw. :D
EDIT:The leaves are quite similar IMO.your right Bone...;)

:D its fun because thats the pheno i thought was most like to the pics of the PTK i have seen :D - very little if any branching :D chunky small nugs - that look almost wet from the cristals ;)

i have a few other phenos of the PTK crosses that have more purple into them - purple leaf tips in the tip and purple underside of the top leafs. - that looks more like a tamer version of the famous PTK bud pic tomhill posted ages ago.

i think the PTK seems perfect for a see of green typ grow

peace :D
