blaze,
wow that setup is one to show off for sure, congrads, thanks for all the great information. I am begining a grow and would like to know your opinion of the GH water farm bucket systems vs. true deep water culture. I have used the water farms for the past 5 years and know how to make them produce, but I sure do hate clogged drip rings. I have learned from you how to setup the recirc. system and will set the buckets and controler up the same way as yours. so the only difference between your dwc buckets and my waterfarms would seem to be the drip ring? I usually grow 3-4ft bushes, vegged for 6weeks and topped at least 2 timesand pull around 12 oz per plant. I already have the waterfarm buckets and am debating weather to switch to netpots and DWC. do you think I will see a difference in yeild? I also would like to ask you about aeration, how many bubbles are to many. can you have too many air bubbles, I am running a 1 hp regen blower from a fish store and I suspect it is too powerful. is there a rule of thumb regarding air bubbles?
one last thing, when is hanging lights verticly done, and for what reason, is it more efficient than a horizontal hood? is it apropriate

Very nice blaze. I have a buddy that uses a soil mix like that too. Nothing but water from start to finish. Seems like a very easy way to go about it. I may have to borrow that one day.... :chin:

One of the main difference is you have more media, Which in turn gives better support for the roots and plant, Another big difference is the waterfarm is more like swc then dwc, And the drip ring is basically just a guide for the roots to the solution below. Imho your fine with waterfarms no need to switch 12oz per plant is nice if your running 10 or more plants. The only way air can be to powerful is if it is so strong its actually ripping the roots otherwise its not much of a problem. The more the better.

Vertical is more effecient in tree style grows, Lower plant number but much larger plants. Its hard for a 1k to penetrate a canopy of a 5ft bush thats also 5ft around so in that case its much more effecient to run vertical otherwise for smaller plants its more effecient to run horizontal. So it really depends on the style whether or not vertical is more effecient. I cant see vertical being more effecient for a sog style grow, Same as I cant see horizontal being more effecient for tree style grows.

Here is a link to the thread I started in the soil forum, For any of you wanting to follow the soil grow. Just updated the soil grow today as well.

I hear ya got some soil going. that might be my next venture as well. ima gonna head over there now to see what you have going.
Peace and thanks, bugout

Like I have been saying for awhile, I owe you my success with enabling me to easily attack the recirculating DWC and I am on my 4th grow with it and LOVING it as always. I dont think I will be changing designs in the next few years. The system is so adaptative and can be used from anything to freakin christmas trees to sea-of-green style. Thank you again and your stuff is looking great as always. I will be visiting it often to see how things are going.

Thanks for the kind words, Yeah it performs thats a given. And your doing great with it glad I could be of some help. Your success is from your hard work I actually contributed nothing to that so personally your doing a great job all on your own :)

this by no means is your subject but this is the best damn grow show and i need help if you wouldnt mind...
i have 10 clones 24"-35" (NL) at day 5 flowering under a 600 watt lumatek (blue) w/ sper hps eye hotiux blub.

plus i have 4 different seed strains in another room flowering under cfl while they show sex signs.

all 14 plants are in 3 gallon soil buckets to be tranfered into 4 gallon next week.

my real question is, do i have enought room/light? oh yea, im working in a 2x6 area.

should i get rid of a few small plants and the males of course. my goal is to put the female seed strains back under hps light once they show sex.

how much is too much? please help!

Best dam grow show was just the title lmao I didnt mean it literally. Its just an eye catching title.

Well from the sounds of it your trying to grow some fairly large girls or else you wouldnt be using 3 or 4 gal pots, So if this is the case IMO you dont have enough room for 14 ladies However if your growing sog style so to say which it doesnt sound like it then 14 is fine. You are deff pushing it if your growing 14 larger plants under a single 600w light. Or planning to have 14 large plants under a single 600.

I would say if the small plants your talking about are really small and the others are much larger then yes toss the smaller ones when you get rid of the males Or try and keep the small ones in veg with the cfl's. Why flowering the larger girls. Cause if they are to much smaller when you put them all in the room the larger ones are going to crowd out and the small babies wont really perform very well and the space they do take up would have been filled with bigger denser buds from the larger plants had the small ones not been in the way.

by SOG, do you mean just add chicken wire asap and start training the tops?

today i put the shorties on stilts and i now have a very even canopy.

one seed strain is very female looking so i put her in the hps room today.

that makes 11 plants in a 4x2 tray/3 gallon buckets.

i have room for another 2x2 tray if i move the light over to the left 1 ft.

im thinking this will work:

12 plants each in 4 gallon buckets, 2 rows of 6. ill move the light to the center of the room and add the 2x2 tray. 8 plants ill go in the 4x2 tray and 4 will go in the 2x2. then i will run SOG chicken wire over the entire top 6x2 area. :woohoo:
feedback?
