This greenhouse will house a large collection of exotics and tropicals that I've been collecting over the years and there will be very limited space when all is said and done. I finally ran out of room in my local greenhouse so I have to move it out to the country. It's in hickville USA and it would be suicide for me to just fill her up with pot. But, if you keep your eyes peeled there's no telling what you may see...... :)

Construction begins this weekend. I expect to have the frame finished by the begining of next week, I'll post more pics then. After that comes the doors and watering system. I recently discovered that I'll have access to power so plans have changed. After the plastic is on I'll be running a 6 inch Vortex to help ventilate this bitch, as well as a few oscilating fans. I've got a feeling she's gonna heat up quick this summer.

Picked this up toady, 330 gallons.

It had Hawian Punch syrup in it originally...mmmmmm. Good deal for $100 bucks.
This will be my main reservior; gonna connect it to gutters. THe frame is coming along nicely. Just had to work out a few design flaws but I got it nice and sturdy now.

Summer is officially here, we've already hit 100+ degrees and it's not even June yet. Needless to say the heat has been slowing down my progress a bit. I finally have the base framed out, though. The original plan was to drill holes in the 4x4's and slide the metal posts into them that would hold the PVC ribs. Well, I couldn't get a tight fit that way so I decided to slide the poles over the studs and then slide the 4x4's over the poles. This turned out to be a bit difficult and a very tight squeeze, but much more sturdy in the end. There's hardly any play in the poles if I try and wiggle them around now. So I'm confident enough to move on. Now all I gotta do is sweep out the slab (ugh) and connect the ribs. The spine at the top will be a bit tricky because the ribs won't be 100% evenly spaced so I'll have to cut each peice of PVC individually.

Here's some extra Sensi Star that I threw outside for a quick Sring harvest. Once again I grew way more plants than I have room for. They haven't been watered since I put them in the ground.... not too shabby.

I got her all cleaned out now! I gotta connect the spine at the top and cover it up next. I'll probly wait until it cools down to put plastic on and just stick with shade cloth for the rest of the summer/fall season. I'm wondering what shade cloth's people are using.

You all think these would provide too much shade? It says 50-70%, or would that be shade or light transmission?
Pics are coming...

Finally able to post pics again

I just ordered the coverings, I decided on 3 mil clear overwintering plastic and 40% aluminex shade cloth.

3 mil will work but after a season it starts to degrade, its also not wind worthy. More expensive are polycarbonate panels, but they last forever. You'd need to rework the frame some. Good luck!
