Was in the dam over new year's holidaze, on a search for the best, long flowering sativas. Barney's has great trees, although the female wait staff at the breakfast bar are pretty bitchy. They have a satellite shop (Barney's Lounge, Reguliersgracht 27) that has the same menu but much less travelled and more chill.
I thought Willie Nelson was the best, then in no particular order: G13-Haze, Honey Bee, Sweet Tooth, Amnesia Haze, Laughing Buddha. I was suprised by the willie- had heard it wasn't great, etc. The batch I saw and smoked from was UBER tasty, well flushed and actually decently cured.
DeDampkring had some great buds, too. Unfortunately, I am drawing a blank on the dankiest of their dank... I do remember their hash was great. Domestic bubble is pretty much the same wherever they carry it, but these cats had the greatest imports in town, IMHO.
IMPORTANT RE: GREY AREA
This was my first trip to the dam, and I was looking forward to going to the Grey Area more than anywhere else. I was only there for 2 nights and I figured I'd save "the best" for last. I am so bummed to say it didn't happen, and here's why...
1) DIFFICULT TO FIND- Maybe because I had a shit map, maybe because I was as high as I ever get, maybe because everyone I asked was just really vague, dunno. Had heard this about DeDampkring but found that no problem.
2) NOT OPEN FOR VERY LONG?!- When we got there at like 6pm they were closed. I recall the sign saying they were open from like 10am-4pm? Now, I am assuming that when I did find it, I found their sole location and not another "satellite" shop? Small place, glass door covered with skate stickers? I was so bummed that I didn't even notice if SB was across the street. Didn't know they were supposed to be there dammit!
Also, hit up Resin for hash. Grasshopper for dinner- fuck their weed. I wanted to see for myself what Greenhouse weed was really all about... the grumblings are true! I found all 3 Arjan's Hazes to be grown with (below) average skill. Potency and flavor were lacking too. I also saw Trainwreck on the menu. I thought, no way! I wonder how this got here, and I wonder how it compares to my Arcata cut?! Hey Arjan, LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE!!! IF THAT'S TRAINWRECK, THEN YOU MUST BE THE KING OF CANNABIS!!! (It's not, and you ain't...)
So, that's about it, I guess. Have a blast! Oh, and if you get cotton mouth, and are on a budget, bring an empty bottle with you and fill it in the bathroom. You ask for a water and you have to pay for it, regardless of how much weed or food you just bought there. This applies almost everywhere, but Barney's was the worst.
