The Amsterdam 'Must Smoke It' Thread

Sometime over this summer I'll be visiting A-dam for just a couple days. :woohoo: I want to get the most out of my time there, and I've read some nasty crap about fiberglass-coated herb, certain shops tumbling their buds before sale, and a lot of shops just not having that high of quality stuff to begin with.

What I'd like this thread to be: If everyone would post about their absolute favorite one or two spots to go, along with a favorite two or three strains that you have found to be really outstanding. Basically, the places you'd tell a guy to go if he only had one or two days in the city.

For the purposes of your advice: I prefer sativa-leaning buds, money is no object (not looking for best 'bargain smoke') and really only include hashes if they rank as a :yoinks: in your all-time smoking experiences.

You guys will be setting my itinerary while I'm visiting the 'holy city', so any practical advice (e.g. good places to eat) you might want to throw in is appreciated as well!

Now I can never remember the name of my favourite place but I know its either on Pijlsteeg (south of the palace at Dam Square, the street to the right of the hotel krasnapolsky) or very close (could be Damstraat) - theres a few streets in that area. But its a real small place, has a real small area downstairs with the weed/hash being sold upstairs, up the tiniest steepest most unfriendly staircase you'll have ever seen to a very cosy but friendly smoking/buying area.

They had the absolute best hash i've ever come across, like nothing i've ever seen before - their weed was excellent too, it had a real feeling of a local sort of place... very few tourists, nice view out of the window and the few times i've been excellent conversation with either the dealer or patrons :)

Wish I could remember its exact location but it can definately be seen from dam square/close area and its obvious its a coffeeshop (if I could remember the name lol) but snoop around that general area and you wont be dissapointed.

Failing that, head in the opposite direction past the palace and straight on until you hit Singel and pay Gypsy a visit :)

edit: And yeah if you don't feel like following hazy directions to a tiny little place recommended by some guy off the internet, Barneys and Grey Area are always a safe bet :)

Waydee....thanks for the tips. I may check that tiny obscure place out that some dude on the internet recommended to me if I get a chance. I've heard Barney's is great for breakfast, and also that grey area's 'Amnesia Haze' is pretty tasty.

SpecialK...I know there's a bunch of Amsterdamn threads on the boards. Rather than just sort through 500 posts, I figured why not make my own thread, and get a few specific and current responses.

Well, you propably already know this but De Tweede Kamer and De Dampkring have excellent menus (both sell same stuff). Their NYCD was / is propably the tastiest herb I've ever tried. Also, Umma Gumma had nice atmosphere and some good Mother's Finest.

i queued for about 10mins in grey area.
all 3 tables were taken, so was very busy.
i reckon they screwed me over.

if ya do go grey area, try when there are seats available.
that way they know youll probably be staying a while, and sell you the good stuff that everyone seems to rave about.

I had a great time at the Grey Area. I rode over there from Vondelpark on my Dutch beater, and locked it up on a bridge near the Seed Boutique, which was unfortunately closed :(

The British guy working the counter was really friendly. I also ended up sitting with a really hot American chick (and her boyfriend, unfortunately, who was rolling a huge pure spliff). I was already beyond being able to communicate at this point, after smoking a good-sized spliff and a blunt roach of White Widow from The Church coffeeshop (in the RLD). The White Widow was incredibly potent, but it didn't burn well in a spliff. A little too chemmy for me.

The Grey Mist crystals from the GA are not to be missed. I'd like to try the Moroccan hash they have there. Missed out on it last time.

My favorite coffeeshop during my trip was Abraxas. Crazy layout and stairs, free internet (post on ICMag!) and the best black hash (Nepali Gold) and pot (Kali Mist) I had in the 'Dam.
