I herd it from my Father , my Uncle , kagyu costal seeds , Ritter , there were so many sources back then and different people importing it to many different countries sourced from Myanmar , Cambodia , Lao , Thailand , and even Phillipines , Most all was shipped mail or boat from Thailand or Gulf of Tonkin , Anything with western named on it , was named by westerners , Mike RItter paid the Vietnamese navy to load his some of his boat's in gulf of Tonkin from there they would head east .. the first sticks were made from tied on hemp or weed stems wrapped with hemp string , later you started seeing the red and gold string , then later the untied "unthai"where did you get the story that Buddha sticks were from Burma?
last week, i asked my friend that was there and he said that Buddha sticks were just a lower grade. lower grade thai weed on a thicker stick that appeared after quality started dropping with so many shipments going out.
the first sticks were made with very thin sticks
they put them on sticks to flavor "soup" boat noodle soup they used roots Pho or what ever they would call it in there country , they were wrapped like that so weed doest get in soup , just the flavoring does . they have been cooking with cannabis for VERY long time in SE Asia , there a very old thai cook book couple 100 years old that has cannbis used in most of the dishes ,i dunno ,
those laos sticks dont look anything like the thai sticks,
from reports ive heard , laos didnt compare to thai weed,
i think its correct many countries surrounding thailand had weed ,
not on sticks though or were they the same quality as thai sticks ...
![]()
these were sourced in udonthani according to the writer ,
@ $3 a kilo , i guess it was 3 USD ..
i think he got that quite wrong,Asian's didnt smoke weed they smoked opium
"Rob Clarke"
im doubting this too ,"Some of the first service men to go to Vietnam started dating local women , they would cook for them and thats how thai sticks were discovered by "westerners"
are you friends with Mike?I herd it from my Father , my Uncle , kagyu costal seeds , Ritter , there were so many sources back then and different people importing it to many different countries sourced from Myanmar , Cambodia , Lao , Thailand , and even Phillipines , Most all was shipped mail or boat from Thailand or Gulf of Tonkin , Anything with western named on it , was named by westerners , Mike RItter paid the Vietnamese navy to load his some of his boat's in gulf of Tonkin from there they would head east .. the first sticks were made from tied on hemp or weed stems wrapped with hemp string , later you started seeing the red and gold string , then later the untied "unthai"
pressed blocks , some of the best weed from then was supposed to be Laotion green and the infamous Golden Voice from Laos that was grown by a family on an island on the mekong near vientaine
Mike also said and David Ortiz , as time went on and the loads got bigger thyey would source from brokers and they were mixed batches from all over , David said when he got his loads to warehouse , it was first come first serve , everyone cherry picked what they wanted , who got there first got the best from that shipment , by the time street got it could have called anything , i sure where lot of the western names came from that we know today , me personally in clai ive gotten sticks from the size of your pinky lower quality to
opiumated small ones "uncommon" , to medium size to Large ones they would cut about an inch off the stick and that was a 1/8 . I'm not at all an experct on SE asian weed , im just sharing my experiences and what i was told by people that were doing "work" back then
say that 5 times fast...^^what is the fascination with fasciation
Aged resin is nicer for me just like aged flowers. 3 months or so when it's not so harsh and raw is my preference. fresh is always fun but something about the smoothed out aged resin is nicer for me and my head and body.
I make outdoor hash from fresh frozen so I don't have to dry anything, indoors I typically only make it after pheno hunt and all discarded phenos are going to be washed after dried and tested, so maximum 1 month hanging.
I do like frenchy though, dry the resin, then making into temple balls style hash, works well for me.
The answer is in page 5 post 80 of this threadHow are done the weed bricks, is it pressed with a mechanical press like hash is done in Morocco?
Aftermath
That night, the IAF destroyed the Syrian Army's 47th Armored Brigade north of Baalbek as it was moving south, and the following day, the IAF destroyed six other SAM batteries, two that remained from the operation and four that the Syrians moved into the Beqaa Valley that night.[35] Syrian Defense Minister Mustafa Tlass told Assad that "the Syrian Air Force was outclassed, the ground-to-air missiles useless, and that without air cover, the army could not fight on".[27]
Sharon later said that "If we had tolerated that development, the Syrian armored forces would have consisted of 600 tanks protected by an extensive missile umbrella. Their missile batteries fired at our planes. We had no choice other than to approve a military operation to destroy the missile buildup". He called the operation "the turning point" in the invasion.[36] A senior IAF officer, widely believed to be Ivry himself, later said that "Syrian aircraft were fighting from a disadvantage, having to respond to the Israeli threat wherever and whenever it materialized, within a general strategic and tactical situation not in Syria's favor."[37]
Tzipori later wrote in his book that Sharon had been planning the attack since the eve of the war, but tricked the Cabinet into believing that the confrontation with the Syrians was unexpected. Sharon maintained that on June 6 he had ordered the IDF not to cross the Awali River and to avoid a confrontation with the Syrians. Sharon said he did order the army to prepare for a contingency plan, however, to drive on the Beirut-Damascus highway in case the Syrians attacked first.[38] Eitan claimed that on the night before the operation, he had agreed with Sharon to prepare the IAF for the attack, in case the Cabinet approved it.[39] Senior Israeli commanders said after the operation that Operation Peace for Galilee could have been achieved without confronting the Syrians.[40]
On Wednesday, Assad sent Tlass to Moscow to seek a comprehensive air umbrella. The Soviets refused but prepared large amounts of military equipment at airfields for dispatch to Syria and sent Marshal Pavel Kutakhov to Syria to find out what happened to the Syrian SAMs, fearing that NATO might do the same in Eastern Europe. On June 9, Assad met with American envoy Habib in Damascus and rejected his terms, demanding that Israel withdraw its forces from Lebanon as a condition for a ceasefire.[41]
US President Ronald Reagan called on Begin and Assad to accept a ceasefire effective at 6:00 a.m., on June 10.[41] By noon on Friday, when the ceasefire took effect, the IAF had shot down 82 aircraft without losing any in air combat.[2] A year after the battle, a US fact-finding mission headed by Lieutenant General John Chain, then U.S. Air Force deputy chief of staff for plans and operations, arrived in Israel to learn lessons from the battle.[42]
The Soviet military newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda announced that "sixty-seven Israeli aircraft, including modern US-made F-15 and F-16 fighters, were downed" in the fighting. The newspaper also reported a meeting with a Syrian airman who recounted an engagement in which he shot down an Israeli F-15: "The victory had not been easy; the enemy had been subtle". Even within Soviet ranks, these claims met with great skepticism.[27] In 1991, Ivry met a Czech general who had been serving in Moscow in 1982. He told Ivry that the operation made the Soviets understand that Western technology was superior to theirs, and that in his view, the blow to the Beqaa Valley SAMs was an impetus to glasnost and the Soviet Union's collapse
What farm is this weed coming from?
Did you find the seed in the buds?
I am new grower too. I came to South America from Thailand 7 years ago. I didnt like the local weed so I started growing from scratch. I didnt know how to sprout seed. You never stop learning.
I like growing so much now I grow vegetables. I learnt to grow using this Icmag site mostly.
It is amazing that you can learn something like this from the internet
I think the brick was made like this
This is how paraguayan weed is made and @elchischas said this method was used in Mexico too
Chischas, is this bricking method still used today or everybody is adapting to the new consumer demands and keep the buds in jars unpressed?

I am learning from the existence of something called oven bag from you. I have never seen it nor heard of it in my life, I guess it is a first world luxuryI learnt about oven bags from Ed Rosenthal on his page at High Times 20 years ago .

In a video on Youtube I've seen the Thais are using every part of the cannabis plant for many different applications, food is the main one, it has so much flavor it is an excellent seasoning. They also use the roots in some soups or gravy, don't remember exactly. In my country we do cherry wine and it's not with the fruits but the leaves, every part of a plant have flavor to extract, we do walnut wine the same way with leaves.they put them on sticks to flavor "soup" boat noodle soup they used roots Pho or what ever they would call it in there country , they were wrapped like that so weed doest get in soup , just the flavoring does . they have been cooking with cannabis for VERY long time in SE Asia , there a very old thai cook book couple 100 years old that has cannbis used in most of the dishes ,

"2. Cultural History
Like many other parts of the world, Cannabis has a long history of recorded use in Southeast Asia. Cannabis has historically been used in Southeast Asia as: an ingredient, a condiment in foods, a medicine and a source of fiber. The most well known historical example of Cannabis being used as a spice in Thailand is boat noodle soup "
"Boat noodle soup, also known as "Kuaitiao Ruea" in Thai, is a dish with roots stretching back to the Ayutthaya Kingdom era (12th-16th centuries) "
Just posting this info to help us all find what we may be searching for . , It may be from thailand or surrounding countries
Thanks I'll check this post to see how bricks are made and read the article provided. The answer is in page 5 post 80 of this thread
About what happened in Bekaa Valley, there are a few articles in the web, I have no clue what happened, but it was all destroyed, what was attacked was the source of revenue as well
The Bekaa Valley War | Air & Space Forces Magazine
In one spectacular engagement in the skies over Lebanon, modern airpower took a dramatic leap forward.www.airandspaceforces.com
I dont want to edit, the post about how traditional brick is made is right after the answer from the Bekaa Valley war you asked about. After the war no more lebanese hash red nor blond, just the leftover stocks.
Tanks came back to Israel full with hash up to the tits, I sourced the hash from the soldiers and different soldiers told this same story that they were bringing it as war trophy and tanks full of hash sacks.
Some soldiers didnt smoke, they just sold the hash to us, it was their prize for killing the leb hash, at that time I had no clue about anything, I only cared about marihuana, hash, getting high every day all day, girls and southamerican football(I still do until this same day man,I didnt grow up one single day since then)
Back then I didnt understand what happened, I thought the hash would last forever same as the southeast asian brick and all the old good weed
From this wiki article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Mole_Cricket_19
In this post you can also admire the collection of hermaphrodite CBD from Prempavee.

Leb hash had a special property we discovered when we were young and committed sins because of unawareness about what is right or wrong and what was going on around us being so high all day. When we were running out of hash and needed to sell a finger for 30 bucks, we found leb hash could be expanded placing it on top of a covered pot with boiling water. A few minutes of it was transforming the volume of the hash and making half finger look like the volume of a full finger. It did crack the hash and made it softer but the high was still there. The weight wasnt altered, just the looks of it. It did crack though so manually you had to cover the cracks, place it in some alumium paper and deliver it on the dark. But customers were coming back for more though
I am learning from the existence of something called oven bag from you. I have never seen it nor heard of it in my life, I guess it is a first world luxury
I would never put a chicken on a bag in the oven even if I knew about these bags.
Is this made in order not to dirty your oven tray? Is it the same taste as cooking chicken on the oven without the bag or comes out boiled somehow?
I cook on the oven tray with oil
Raco, your family looked unstress and happy
I enjoyed the last year of the pesetas. You could have a coffee in Canary Islands for 10 duros, tapas costed around 300 pesetas and life was unstressful at least in the islands, I have no clue about today but I heard when it was converted to euros prices jumped big time and became a similar economy and similar prices to Germany
I have not been in Spain during these Euro times, but I suspect life might be a lot more stressful and people running after money to make ends meet because prices are not the same as in the pesetas time
We have now in 2025 Purple Thai Stick and the professor is telling it should us be done with green CBD not purple CBD
Inflation from the 70s is making it 30u$s for 50 grams Thai Stick, special offer 10.000baht or 300u$s kilo is not bad for 2025. x100 price since the 70s not bad really.
Good luck getting high from modern thai stick. People get high from the names and hype today
Nice craftmanship thoug.
A pity real weed is not being used for such craft, just pure purple hybrids and pure CBD being reccommended by the doctors
