I grew up in south Louisiana, where the laws are very similar to Texas. According to state law, if you have over 10,000 plants you are subject to the death penalty. In 2016, yes. The Federal gov't won't let that happen, obviously, but that's how backwards they are.
Having lived there over 20 years, I would bet a year's salary that not Louisiana nor any of its adjacent states will truly legalize recreational marijuana until it is imposed on them by the federal government. In other words, kicking and screaming.
