Texas growers unite

Houston Growers, Texas Hydroponics off Park Place is being watched by two cars. One is a black Crown Vic with full tint and black rims. The other is a white Chevy SUV with a brushgaurd and tinted windows. Both managed to let their presence known to me. The Crown Vic followed me through neighborhoods nobody would use as shortcuts and the SUV was right behind the Crown Vic the entire time. They followed my car for what felt like an hour before they both turned off into a church parking lot about 15 miles away from TXHydro. The entire trip normally takes me about an hour and a half but I was gone for nearly 4 hours this time. I haven't seen any other unusual activity around my house but trust me Im looking. They were both sitting in the parking lot directly across the street on De Leon. The Crown Vic driver is a white male with an athletic build and cop glasses. The two guys in the SUV were both were black vests and the typical drug cop glasses.

Don't want anyone getting into trouble. If anyone sees these cars following you out of TXHydro or any hydro store for that matter, take a detour through the inner city. The true criminals in Houston are the Harris County Narcs.

im not doubting your story, but why would they do that when they can just copy down your plate & do the surveillance at another time when its not so inconspicuous. then again NARCS arnt the brightest bunch..it could aslso have been grow rippers...

ive shopped @ texas grower supply up in humble since 1997 & never had any problems..might check them out if you are feeling unsafe..the owner there is the only one who runs the shop & has told the cops to fuck off numerous times,, better to support them than the corporate turds @ txhydro...

Im not sure either. I drove in a manner that only someone following me would've took. I honestly was thinking the whole time that I was going to get home to more Crown Vics and SUV's waiting for me. Im keeping an eye out. Told my neighbor to watch out for anything. Video shows nothing unusual outside my house. Wouldnt doubt it if it were rippers though.

You're the third person I've heard reccomend TGS. Think Im gonna swing by there next time I need anything. The more space between my house and the shop the better. Thanks :)

WTF happened to Dallas this weekend? Jason Garrett is in trouble IMO. That was some weak football. I was really pissed off lol. Not a good day.

Saints are in though ;) And to think I use to have a paper bag over my head when I was kid. I had little Dallas uniform too though!

Well howdy yall, just wanted to stop in. I've always seen the "Texas Growers Unite" thread, but for one reason or another I've never posted in here.
Born and raised in Texas here, but lived out West for a few years for school. Back now!

Here's a little pic. A 1.4 oz. dry bud of stinky, peppery Mandala Satori next to out National Beer. Cheers fellers

That is a great brewery, but even though it is considered the beer of Texas, I think Shiner has pretty much stolen all the glory.

If you ever get a chance they are both excellent breweries to tour. Who doesn't like free beer?

...btw, that does not look dry at all, or were you saying it came out at 1.4oz dried?

Yea I agree- Shiner has stolen the glory. I was in Canada one time at a place with 6 beers on tap............ and Shiner was one of them. Kinda crazy, but I enjoy Lone Star for the nostalgia of the whole thing. Plus its cheap.
I haven't had a chance to tour the Shiner brewery yet, but if you get a chance, tour the Real Ale brewery in Blanco. REALLY good beers, beautiful little town, and like you said, who doesn't like free beer? I recommend the Rio Blanco Pale Ale and Firemans 4. Also they have a special edition beer called Phoenix out right now that's pretty good.
And yea, sorry I wrote that a little weird, I took the picture before it was dried, but after drying it weighed 1.4

What gets me is paying import prices $$ for a domestic brewed beer Shiner. If you happen to enjoy Vodka, then Austin can boast about Tito's Homemade Vodka, It's best straight from the frezzer.

I always ask the bartender why my Texas beer is more than a regular domestic. Answers are usually 'because it is good' , or 'I don't know'.

I will try to find that Tito's, sounds good.

I love the Real Ale line. Very nice beers. I think I may plan a trip soon and hit all the TX breweries. Real Ale is about 4.5 hours for me, so might as well hit up Spoetzl, Lone Star and Real Ale at the same time...

Now I am gonna plan my trip.

I also heard some rumor (don't know if its true of course).........but it was that all Shiner in a bottle is 3.4% alcohol so they can export it without having to do different bottling for keeping it domestic, while all their beer in kegs is the full 5.5% or whatever............... heard it from one of my homebrewing friends. Not trying to start any rumors, just possibly some food for thought, thats why I only get Shiner on draft. BUT, Shiner Cheer, their seasonal Christmas brew, was f'in delish. I stockpiled after the holidays.

Hey if you're gonna make the trip to Blanco for the Real Ale brewery, might as well head up to Austin and check out Independence, 512, North by Northwest and Live Oak breweries. They all have some tasty brews, and good seasonals, given the time of year.

But yea, Tito's on ice, 50/50 with SweetLeaf Mint and Honey tea on a hot day(or a cold or warm day , or any day that ends in a "y" for that matter) will change your life.

Spy - Thanks for the additional breweries. Looks like a beer trip this summer is in order. The Winter[Shiner] Cheer was awesome and I bought three of the cases myself.

Well, off the beer subject, but are any of you guys/gals outdoor growers? I have not grown outdoors in TX and was wondering when you plant. I am thinking April or May. I am in Hardiness Zone 8a according to USDA Hardiness zone map I figure I could plant in late April and be safe. Any tips (specifically Dallas area folks since TX has so many climates)?

The last time I grew outdoors in Texas, my whole crop got ravaged by a severe hail storm one month from harvest, all that was left was stems...........but that's Texas for ya. Since then I've moved to more controlled environments, but I would like to get back to growing under the HPS in the sky some time soon. But if I remember correctly, I did start that in May.

it is a KNOWN fact that most of the busts to come out of the central TX area in the past five years were from pigs watching the stores....the turd that headed up the local task force has now transfered to DPS so he has no jurisdictional limits now my friends...be careful......be very very careful:hide:
