Tent heater, any suggestions?

Any advice for small heater for 4 X 8 tent. Hopefully low wattage, small, and does not produce light.

Going to run tent in basement, and gets down to 0 F on coldest nights. Have had grows ruined by red light from power strip, so concerned that the glow from some heaters might be an issue. Wondering if anyone has found any that are good and cheap would be nice.

So I use a small space heater hooked to and enviro controller. I just took it apart and disabled the red led indicator light. I run it on the low setting and it does a great job. Not sure of output but I am thinking around 500 watts at the low setting, it does 1500 watts on the high setting. The low provides a nice constant heat flow. Key is to disable that light not cover it..it will shine through the grilled back...
Peace, negative.

Have seen those thermostats to control heater, and i think run fan if too hot.

That looks perfect, but pricey. I have no income so I am cheap bastard. Gives me an idea of what to look for. Surprised tent makers do not sell them.
Might get that since most others are 1500 watts. Does it have thermostat???

Best to have a thermal battery with the heater. An oil radiator would work better than just an electrical heater because the oil stores the heat longer when the device is not running.
That is what I use in bedroom for sleeping. Will look for small one. Only issue would be the light on it.

I cover the red light on my multiplugs with duct tape. I got some hermies always at the same place until i noticed it was the red glow from the switch of the multiplug.

I also had the problem with temperatures and decided to get a heater but no matter which heater i looked into getting, i kept running into problems.

Oil rads make hot pockets that need to be circulated with a fan whilst taking a shit ton of space.
Space heaters have those elements which produce lights, that's a definite no.
Tube heaters or Tubular heaters are used to keep temperatures above freezing in greenhouses and garages but i'm not sure if you can install them vertically.

So what i did instead was i bought a temperature controller switch and a little office heater, I put the probe of the temperature controller inside the tent and left the little heater outside of the tent pointing at the tent, when the desired temperature is reached inside the tent (for me that is 21c during lights off) the little controller switches the heater off. This way, heater is outside but doesn't heat the entire room, just the tent.

The temperature controller is the bottom thing with the little screen that's got a cable coming out of it.

Not entirely correct. That's the reason I run mine on low...if I do the elements do not glow at all.

How do the lights even warm that. No tent is going to hold in the warmth in a room that cold. The tent should serve to build up insulation board around it. And under it. So you can actually have heat inside, with such cold outside. You might need more than 50mm also, and consider fire resistance. On the floor you are looking at ply faced so you don't crush it.

I put heated bed blankets under grows at times, but I don't think that will be any use to you. With a proper insulated tent, you need heating on the air inlet. Perhaps duct from the inlet sock, to another box where a heater sits. I have done this with a 500w heater, but I think a number of oil rads will be needed in your case. Raising -18 air to +18 air isn't going to be easy. You will need to back off on the extract and think about a dehu~ to allow that.

Is there no way to insulate the cellar and circulate house air through it?

Might need to use HID for this. Ballasts in that box with your heaters.

It's so cold, I have to presume air from outside is coming in. That would be a good place for some pre-heating. Just to get the air above freezing.

I think you may have to insulate and heat the room, as you need to unzip that tent at times. -18 is no joke. Are you sure it wasn't a typo?

I use a 200 watt heater. No lights. It's on a thermostat and runs maybe the first 15 minutes when the lights first come on in a 65F degree room. I do not run it when lights off though. I use my bucket strip heaters if the temp is that low.

I adapted a 6” duct to a thermostat heater so I could focus the heated air to warm the pots. I had the Cindy’s in a place that got cold at night. Lucky me I caught the cord I rigged up as an extension getting too hot to touch. Stopped using the heat, and growth started getting stunted. Soil temp matters to our little friends the microbes.

A heat pad to set the pots on would be good too.

I use the tube heaters down in rootzone is the most important part phosphorous totally unavailable with low root zone Temps. If your using led those Temps will be challenging even with a heater. Infrared heat is what pulls water up the plant by evaporating water in upper plant. Hps or metal halide in some form is a must with Temps like that. A 250 or 400 hps for lights on could be more helpful then a heater. with nearly same power draw you get extra red light and infrared heat. At lights off you'll need to raise temp as well. The tube heaters are safest to run in humid environments and a simple thermo plug in control only about 30 bucks.

Amazon basics.
$22 ish Canadian (pink is cheapest)
Heating element doesn't get hot enough to glow red. Not even slightly.

400 or 500 watts

To be extra cautious I'd prob use a contained oil heater with air circulation. Most should have thermostats on them, no open heat source to start a fire.

No red glow, but small operating light needs addressing on
