Temp Sensor readings skewed?

Have a wireless temp probe. In direct light it heats up way more than in shade or at a non direct angle. Does the plastic around it absorb light/heat and heat up artificially. Giving me a false reading. Ive read that some people keep them at canopy level but shaded. Some people kind of cover them so the light doesnt hit the sensor and heat it up too much. Any vets out there familiar with this. Ive googled it up but didnt get enough veteran grower responses to make a judgement.

as with any direct lighting, the temp sensors do reflect the temp in direct light. so yes, you sensor is giving you an accurate temp under the light.

actually they work by IR, the laser is just for pointing. but yeah, you're right, they work great. great tool to have in a growroom, workshop or even home.
