Here I do not like Prop 19 at all. But if you want to tax marijuana let 100% of the tax money go to the schools. And that would be just for starters
I like this theory. Here's the reality:
Say the education budget is currently 10.5 million. And this passes and all the money goes right to schools. They pass it and 9.5 million is collected from growers for the schools.
What happens is that some politician comes along and says "Hey, schools were getting by on 10.5 million before. They don't NEED 20 million. Let's take that 9.5 million we just got and put it toward the school budget... and then let's take 9.5 million that WAS going to the schools from OTHER SOURCES and reappropriate that money somewhere else.
Schools won't benefit. Local government will benefit.
VOTERS: You do not have to pass these local regulations in order to vote yes on Prop 19.
