Tap Water 7.8 - Okay to use?

I use a hydrologic big boy with the kdf carbon filter in it. It removes any and all undesirables from the water.

Also IMO not having to ph water for soil is a big misconception. You want to be in the 6.2-6.8 range for optimal uptake of nutrients in sol. If you keep adding water that is too high/low in ph, its going to change the ph of your soil thus affecting how efficiently your plants uptake nutrients. Your plants will still grow and produce, but they won't be doing it to their full potential. If the ph is really off, it will cause nutrient deficiencies. The nutrients will be in the soil, but your plants will not be able to use them. Its proven science what nutrients uptake into plants efficiently at what ph levels.

Check out this soil ph nutrient chart. http://www.growweedeasy.com/sites/g...trient-deficiency/soil-ph-chart-marijuana.jpg

yeah pH drift is a bitch.

a long time ago i got fucked by ff tiger bloom because i didn't factor ph.

then i tried to bring it up by flushing with 10+ water, it took forever but i had severely stunted growth.

and all this x drops blah blah blah i just measure my shit out in mL. i've found a 5% solution of ph up works great for me.

convert everything to metric system, life becomes much easier.
math is easier too. drops/teaspoons/cups/gallons. fuck that.
mL/L, life is good.

good luck

Get Distilled water someplace.Just get it.

Tap water sucks.Chlorine makes bud smells like pee pee.

You can try to bubble up your tap water for 2-3 days with a fish pump to remove Chlorine but I've never tried it.

I used to buy distilled water to cut my tap with. Worked great for drift. Sucked paying for it every couple days and lugging it up to my spot. Then I just started using the water my dehumidifier made. Few gallons every day. I figured why spend cash when this thing pee's it out for free?

Yea I decided to just buy it. Wonder how much I'll end up spending on water @ $6/5G

I would take 5 gallon buckets to the water machines. Then water is only $.30/gallon. I would fill up 4 or 5 buckets to cut down on trips.

Like Scrappy said a couple posts up. Leave the tap water out and add molasses. I add molasses every time I water no matter what water I use. Prolonged use of your tap water left out or not will produce brown chlorotic spots on the lower leaves.

Skinny Leaf,
There are thousands of different tap waters in the US alone. They vary like a sombitch. The chlorotic spots you speak of are from your tap, and don't necessarily result from many other local tap waters. Good luck. -granger

YES^^^! used to use the 5 gallon jerry cans to the buy RO at the 'windmill' water station ($.50/gallon)... 6 at a time.. what a PITA and the paranoia made me crazy. two people asked what I needed 'all that water' for....bought the RO machine, we have a septic system so 'exhausted' water is fed out to the back yard plants..

using tap water with ph 8 without problems. just make sure you arent adding too much phosphorus/nitrogen depending on the acid you are using for bringing the ph down.
i felt using a combination of different acids often helps... btw nitrates are better soluble than phosphates

I'm going to post up a picture later of a plant I measured last night at 7.7/550 runoff. My Afgoo has been a goddamned nightmare. Can't get the ph down and haven't been able to for about two or three months in spite of a couple flushes. It was just too damaged before the first flush I think. I haven't seen any other problems with it besides that (no soil borne pathogens) but the plant's still mostly dead and about half the size of all of her sisters (that have admittedly been hovering around 7.1-7.4 for most of that same period... I was lazy with phing for a while and it bit me in the ass). Since there are so many voices chiming in saying it's okay to be even lazier than I was I may as well post pics for proof. Be right back...
