I think it come down to a lot of variables… I just did a side-by-side with my 1.0EC tap vs RO in coco hemp buckets.
The tap clone was came out with sturdier branching, but the buds have a less clean smell… like mineral water
I did use recharge weekly. Which has humic, fulvic, and beneficials. I would think this aided in the chelation of the tap.
In a peat based mix I’ve had less than stellar result I’d attribute to lack of sufficient runoff, ultimately leading to lock out.
