Taking clones in late flower, the easy way.

you guys should go share some knowledge with those guys in the "having trouble cloning" thread. they refuse to believe it's as simple as taking a cut and sticking it in wet "dirt", then waiting a week.

There are hundreds if not thousands of threads on the subject of cloning, and many of us have shared our tricks and techniques on the topic.

well i screwed up and accidently replaced my favorite mom with a pheno of a different but similar looking strain, and only realized my mistake months later. so now im sweating that these four cuts i took off the plants 13 weeks into flower will root. thankfully its a fast rooting and mold resistant pheno so after reading this thread im feeling a lot better about my chances. still sucks that my prize cut is gonna be offline for a while.

I don't worry about late flower if I want a cutting. Stick em in wet vermiculite for 10 days and they will root, then veg about the same as any other clone.

But I've discovered that clones taken during the first 2 or 3 weeks of flower have the nodes stacked tighter and branch better, producing far more cola bud sites. Almost all of the strains I've cloned that way produce twice the yield or better.
I've gotten to where I force my mothers into flower for 2 weeks before I even cut clones.

Really impressive stuff here....has anyone else had any success with this approach? I'd love to see a straight comparison of yield between one not flowered and one flowered. Have you ever done this combined with air layering?

hi all I see u r talking about clones for flowering plants well I have been doing this for over 6 years now I go back to a fresh seed every to years it works fine for me BUT I use popcorn flowers for the bottom of the plant and get good results I have just taken my next cutting for my on going crop at 8 weeks I take them they r big enough then taken yesterday

and the today they look fine

old pic's for u to see it works well

in my cloner atm is

Tap Water 30lt rez
150ml root juice
50ml ionic Bloom
0.5 chlorine

I am attempt ling this with my cotton candy. Although I cut them at week 7, so they are quite nitrogen deficient. And forgot to put them in clear pots so I can't see the roots, doh. these will be my first clones. At day 7 they look good. No wilting. But I think im gonna have to risk an extremely light N feed.

Thanks for the great info on this thread

Many people advised me not to take cuts after flipping. I'm glad i saw this thread so i can go on with my original plan.

As a clone newbie i got some questions though:

I'm going to pop around 30 regular seeds. Due to time and space issues, I can only veg them for about 4 weeks. As I prolly won't be able to take cuttings at 4 weeks of veg, I was thinking of flipping to 12/12 then just take clones once I see the first sign of pre flowering pistils. That would save extra work: Instead of me taking clones from each plant, i will only take clones from those that turn out to be female...

As opposed to what most of u are doing (taking clones late), i'm going to take em from early or rather pre flowering moms.

Now I've read about the reveg issues... can u guys tell me, how fast and how big will those cuttings grow in 11 weeks spent in a veg cab?

Would it be possible to grow that 1st generation clone, then take clones from it again within those 11 weeks? I'd like to use the 2nd gen clone to replace the original moms and get rid of the 1st gen clone... also due to space issues in the veg cab.

I took some clones around 5-7 weeks with buds on them, and they rooted faster then the ones I am currently trying to root. Sucks!

you can take a clone at any time as long as the stem isn't all woody and there are a couple of leaves even baby ones, on it. and a new shoot forming on a node. leaves, node, not woody.

i can't tell you how fast it would grow specifically in 11 weeks veg. i have a clone that i put into flower from freshly rooted, maybe bout 2 weeks veg before it started growing normal leaves again. in 5 weeks it's gone from 6 inches to about 16. so if you vegged this particular plant 11 weeks it would prolly be fucking insane.

you can take a clone of a clone of a clone...

this particular clone however mutated a little bit. this is what it grew like from seed normally.

2 more clones from same original plant these ones i threw in after vegging maybe 4 weeks. they're 2 weeks younger than the one above.

i've got an nl that's been clone of a cloned for i dunno how many years, maybe 6+ grows and vegges just fine.

i found this thread after losing the new clone of a plant i wanted to keep around but lost to mushy stem eventually...was just too young and tender at the time cut but you know how it is with time and space and blah blah

it gives me hope i may be able to save it....about 6-7 weeks in at the time, so i
took 6 cuts of lowest branches....hope at least one takes
