Your plants are looking very good for 10 days old. I experienced the same with my easyryders, they grew like on steroids! Now I have some Kush going on 10 days, and they are much smaller than.
Dont know about root rot, but you should try to keep PH under 6.0
Got an issue here... The tips of these bottom leaves are crispy dry... Like I could crumble them into dust. pH is at 6.7 temp is 83... they are a good 18 inches from the lights still... I dont know whats going on : (
Exposed foil will reflect light to the underside of the leaves, causing the extra crispy you're seeing. That's the most probable cause...also I noticed you fed them. Since they are so small, if you didn't give them a micro-size dose, you may have burned them a bit. Also, since flora nova is brown sludge, it can make roots look grimey, but they are generally fine. And even after all that, I think your main problem will be since the reservoir is so small, whenever they eat anything the PH will jump around like mad, esp .w three plants in the same res. Good luck!
I've seen a similar sized tub with 2 easyryder 2's in it. It held less than a gallon of water. It did well on the PH. It was well ventilated though. In the past, hot water seemed to cause more PH problems than size.
Did you soak your rockwool and hydroton in PH balanced water before use? If not that could decrease your PH stability. You need to keep the PH lower than 6,7 for sure
Ok, these ladies are starting to stink! Looking better now, I fried the bottom leaves from when I left them outside in the sun... I thought it would do them some good. Oh well.. Gave them a fairly strong dose of Floranova grow today, (about a tsp) I've been giving them light feedings till now, but I'm seeing the first pre-flowers, so I'll be switching to Bloom in a week or two... pH is around 6.5
I don't think they look to bad... Perhaps a tad overfed. The one in the front is obviously stunted, and beat the hell up, but it is flowering. Here are the recent changes:
My pH is steady at 6.3, Temps around 83 - Is that gonna be too hot?
I switched the box around, The one plant was getting a bit too friendly with the intake fan. Put the lights on a timer, 20/4... Fed another few drops of FloraNova Grow... Next feeding will be with Bloom.
How much are you feeding them? Hopefully you are using converted lucas formula for your flora Nova bloom, which would be 5ml / gallon for first 30 days and 8ml / gal for last 30. A good rule of thumb though, if for af's, knock that back about 25%, so around 3ml/gallon for first 30 days, and 6ml/gal until they finish up. You should NOT have to use ph up/down with this formula. Also, how are you topping up? with plain water or nute-water?
I've had a couple pH swings, I flushed with spring water twice now.... pH steadied out at 7 and I'm gently lowering it, its at 6.6 right now... I top off with fresh spring water... how long before I should add muted?
flora nova bloom has ph buffers, you should not have to lower it or raise it if you are using the correct concentration. Are you using flora nova grow instead?
Remember that not all water is the same, you want to either make or buy specifically **reverse osmosis** water. Spring water has minerals, correct? You should add-back 50% of initial starting concentration after about 45 days. I.e., if your res is 5ml per gal flora nova bloom, add-back 2.5ml per gallon when you top up.
Still flushing with fresh water, new growth is green, and unburnt. I'm going to add a very very light dose (.5mg) of grow some time tomorrow, as some of the leaves are starting to yellow up. pH is stabilized at 5.5... My temps are getting a bit high, like 85 degrees... ever since I added my carbon scrubber. the rez it up to 82... I added some ducting to the intake/exhaust to try and get more cool air in, and hot air away. I'm thinking about running some Co2 in, that should cool things off a couple degrees.
Nice that you are getting the girls back on track, be careful with that heat though... 85 is pushing it and heat can make the best looking plants go shit in no time. I had big problems with nute lock out from to much heat when i first got my stealth grow cab going. Almost lost a couple to heat before I figured it out and got more cool air in there.
get them temps down my friend, good luck with everything.
Alright... things are going... ok. A week or so after I flushed, some of the leaves started to yellow and show some purple at the tips, so I fed 3mL of FloraNova Bloom... a few days later I got the brown spots back... they start at the new growth, and looks a lot like a Boron deficiency... I added about half a mL of FloraNova Grow, because it has boron in it... Growing three plants in a one gallon rez in hard...
I also added some ducting from the intake fan through one of the empty pot holes, this keeps the water in the rez a solid 10 degrees cooler than the rest of the cab.
pH is stable 5.7-6.0
temps are around 80
I really can't figure out whats going on with these guys... But whatever happens, I should be able to make it another 20-30 days to harvest without them totally crapping out on me...
Alright... and heres the runted one.... I have no idea why this guy is so fucked up but I'm a bit afraid it going to die and rot all the roots from the other plants out... the fan leaves have all but died off, The new growth around the bud is green, but the pistils are all turning orange already... technically its a good 7 days older than its two much more attractive sisters.
We'll see if I can go another 8-10 days without posting an update
