Sweet Tooth Autoflower Problems?

I just ordered 5 ST seeds from ******** and have been reading that people are experiencing problems with the strain; mainly that it wont autoflower. Is this still a prevelent issue? If so, what do you think I should do? I plan on growing outdoors if that helps at all. Thank You.

Apparently, the ST's auto tendency is triggered by being rootbound. So the logical solution is to compensate with larger containers then you'd normally use,I guess.

Why would being rootbound trigger the plant into a flowering state? That seems pretty strange.

I bought some afghan kush autoflowers, think it was when they first came out, and they didn't go into flowering for 2 months. By the time i finally twigged that the genetics must be a bit monged somewhere, they were about 6 foot tall!

It seems strange to me too, but being rootbound does appear to trigger flowering in the Tooth. I keep bonsai moms under 18/6 lighting, and the only plants that I've had problems with going into flowering are the ST. I'm using 1 liter air pots, which I had hoped would alleviate the problem, but they haven't helped.

*edit* It should be noted that I didn't have any problems with the ST#4 prematurely flowering in the normal course of a veg/flower run. In these cases, I was using both 3 gallon smart and air pots.

I could be wrong. ( It has been noted to happen now and then. )

But

I think he ordered some AUTOFLOWERING Sweettooth and they did not AF like they were suppose to.

I think once the plant is in the container for so long the roots buildup and to certain point its ok but then the plant senses it as a life continuing issue and autoflowers in the hopes to procreate before it dies off.

There are a handful of strains that don't need much of a nudge to AF when root bound and I bet if you looked far enough back in its genetic makeup you'll some early crosses in all of them that are the problem.

Gotta wonder if someone just made the 'AF' Sweet tooth after seeing a male that AF'd and then having a rootbound mom that AF'd, and assumed the progeny would replicate the parents.

There are a few companies out there now making, what seem to be, very untested, not fully bred, 'autoflowering plants' that don't always AF as they're supposed to.

Then again, there are breeders and seed makers right here on this site who put out very high quality product which consistently AFs when its supposed to. A lot of the time these breeders/seed makers put out packs of seeds costing the same or less and with higher quality than packs from the competition.

---------

If you're not seeing your supposed AF genetics AFing like they're supposed to, it could be a couple things. It could be your genetics are bunk. could be too much nitrogen in the mix or feedings, and, especially with hydro, you could have pH lockout issues with the nutrients, causing a lack of P uptake in the plants.

Sure as hell! It went right on by me.

I had some sweet tooth auto in dwc and it was easy to grow, however i had a ph drift that slowed her down and in the end it took her (BIG BUSH):woohoo: almost 90 days to finish from seed. curing now! the single fem seed began flower between 3-4 weeks at 18/6 light cycle

Just my experience/opinion = good hearty plant, great producer:party:
