Africa didn't have any indiginous cannabis before the arabs brought the plant with them. After that Indians, Thais.. loads of Asian peoples trading with Africans. The genetic variety of African herb is there for great.

Some African strain produce a racy high and have thin leaves, while other tend to be more mellow, almost couchlock with wider leaves.

I wouldn't be surprised if some landraces like malawi gold or swazi had a hint of "indica" in them.

Would u consider Swazi a pure sativa??

In my experience Swazi is deffo mostly Sat but like most SA Dagga it has more THCV than usual Sat's so has a quite distinct sometimes unpleasant(to noob's) effect. There is no doubt SA's various IBL's could be Sat/Indica crosses but it's RooiBart and Durban that are the more likely to express Indica characteristics IMHO. The most true Sat IBL from SA I have experience of is from Transkei and I only have a cross of that left now,no pure seeds! Although I have it on good info that the same families still grow the same weed in the same area(since'69) so intend to restock soon. As its distinctive stuff with a great euphoric rush of a high and a delicious sage like smell.
The Transkei and the Swazi(2types i've grown) are both thin leaved but start a little wider leaved than most Sat's and take 13 to 19 wks to flower most taking 15/16. One of my Swazi's used to Hermie but not drop pollen and reminded me of a THai/Lambsbread I used to have in 90's.
One thing I know is that I've seen what were deffo pretty pure Sativa's growing sometimes with slightly more Indica looking plants in 2 large sites in Wild coast of Transkei, many smaller farms in Pondoland area,1 Massive farm in KZN(U can smell weed for 10 miles before u see it..no joke),2 medium 'farms' in Swaziland,1 small farm in Mozambique and wild Sativa's and farms in Lesotho as well! Theyre revegg clones and theyre in rough shape reight now, but at least one of the wil pull thru and give me a nice mother swazi. Ill update when I can but keep the swazi info coming in. Id love to see more pics too. Thanks guys!!!

Sorry if I have asked this before, but who´s breeders Swazi are you growing Gonejah, or have you get it from a club?

Here´s my little Swazi after 16 days in 12/12, was put in there as a rooted clone..

I did also put that trained, multibranched Swazi mummy into 12/12. She has numerous mainbranches, so I know Herbalistic is going to smoke Swazi bud this spring & summer....

Btw Gonejah, is there any carrot odors represented in your Swazi?

I very much agree with you Thule, but it´s still hard for me to believe that Africa didnt have any indigenous cannabis before imigrants/traders/etc. came :chin:

We cannot never know for sure, but there is so great genetic diversity among African erb´that it makes you think :2cents:

well given the fact they are the same plant just different expressions and taken to different places .. be surprised if the odd indica plant , or a sativa showing some indica traits was not found and visa versa ...

Yes Wally, there´s some food for the thought fo´sure :2cents:

^^That^^ said, im going to take pics of my Swazi Rooibart mother, so you guys/gals can compare it to straight flowered just rooted cutting!

The mother has started to produce way wider leafs than the clone and really cannot be identified as the same plant :chin: Me thinks this is very interesting to see how/if they differ also in the type of high, which I strongly doubt, because it´s a cutting from the same mum....

Here´s a lousy example what im talking about, ill take better pics soon..

Here´s the mum:

And the straight flowered after rooted clone:

This could be easier to explain if the clone was the only one in the flower and the mummy still in veg, but the situation is that they are both in flowering :chin: This way it would be natural it produces wider leafs while in veg, but start´s to produce thinner one´s right after induced flowering...

Thats interesting about the differece in characteristics between mom and clone. Ive found this to happen sometimes too, and have read about it. The same pheno changing characteristics when cloned.

The swazi I have is from a club, wish I knew where it was from, its amazing to me how dank it is. I dont think homeboy gets it lol. I will post pics of it as it progresses along aas often as I can. Thanks for keepin this thread alive!! Wish I could send some swazi to you all!!

Since Africa is the birthplace of mankind I have to believe there had to be some cannabis plants kicking around, but thats just an uneducated guess. And it sounds like one lol.

Had a good chat with franco about his latest trip strainhunting, fascinating tales and he confirmed some longstanding ideas I had about Swazi weed.

Basically I now think there are 2 known Swazi strains, "Rootibart" and "Swazi" aka Swazi Skunk

Rootibart is a long flowering stringy sativa, whereas "Swazi" is a much quicker flowering fat sativa like Powerplant. Franco's tales of the fields of "Swazi" over there, the plants and the descriptions sounds exactly like the stuff we grew in London all those years ago, there should be seeds from his strainhunters seedbank sometime.

It is really mould resistant, can be productive, not insanely strong, but a fantastic energetic, productive "daytime smoke" of the highest quality.

The Landrace Team has "Swazi Gold".

Greenhouse Seeds has Exodus Cheese x Swazi (i.e. Swazi x Skunk).

The Greenhouse Exodus Cheese went dirty because of the cheese. Its a dirty hybrid to me, lol.

The Landrace Team sounds interesting, anyone ordered from them?
