Muddy, last year I put some dc pollen on a colombian red (lowland) an acapulco gold and a oaxacan pelo rojo (chimalapas). I haven't grown any of the offspring out though. The f1 crosses made with the pelo rojo I've grown so far need to be grown outside or the flavor and high don't come out correctly and the deep chunk is so mold sensitive. So, i'm reluctant to grow them outside in fear of mold and I'm reluctant to grow them inside in fear of producing a bland product. I'm tired of living in fear, lol. I will probably grow then outside later this year.

Originally posted @ OG & misslabled (the pic, not the plant). I never had the chance to correct the mistake over there.

This is Tule Fog (Haze X DC), note how much the leaf size of DC has been knocked down in the f1.

Excuse the quality of the pic.

It is a smoke of the highest order in my opinion. Well balanced, all the punch of the DC, all the complexity of the Haze. All of my efforts will be directed to this line when i return to "work".
Best,
Tom

its that time a year, get back to work:D

few shots courtesy of Boink and meduser, cross i did back when Tom first cut loose the DC, a intense grape aroma and taste black domina X DC male. the BD plant was really a great smoke, not ragin potent but the grape was excessive, and just couldnt put it down.

over all the cross was a bit of a bust due to the BD plant waterin down the over all cross. the plant med grew is still in clone form around canada.

the DC ruled the cross in growth, and bud structure, with bit more yields.

I grew out the Cal-Jax and I can attest to it being some very fine smoke. I also made seeds with a nice Cal-Jax male that was a good yielder with a haze smell to it. I had a bunch that were pale also, but alot more that were well developed. I got rid of the pale ones, I guess I should have kept them. Just made them so haven't grown any out yet. Here is a pic of the Cal-Jax at about 5 weeks. I have pictures of her later in budding but can't find them. Here is a dry bud shot also of the Cal-Jax.

I still do get a bit o mold on the parvati but it finishes quicker normally during the yearly drought so it's hard to say if it is more mold resistant or not.

I can't speak from too much experience but I think the ptk is generally much more variable. You can probably find some with a pretty good mold resistance and some with hardly any. Some ptk's are structured very similar to deep chunk and some have a little more stretch and narrower leaves though still very indica structured.

Deep Crosses

Deep Crosses

Nice thread folks!
sweet crowd.
I would follow toms advise and choose sativas to cross with as its only given me great results so far. I just popped a whack of deep congo f2's and Im very interested to see what pops up. The Deep Warp Im happy with cuz it comes in super early as the original timewarp cross did and this is so important for us Canucks where Septemper can degrade fast so having budding early ourtdours makes all the difference in these parts. So in the Deep Warp the earliness of the Timewarp/cambodian was maintained and the Quality of the Dc i.e. potency, density etc. was added in. In last years swamp patch I was 100% deep warp which came in so early that when it was dusty dry in late summer in this town I was a popular guy. Thick dense early outdour smoke. Attached is a pic of my favourite pheno.
In this years swamp grow im gonna go deep warp, deep congo f2's, congo cuts, deep wreck, deep chunk so I guess im booked for the summer. The swamp bag system really worked out nice for me last year. Tom one question though. Would you go f(n+1) on these crosses or cross back once more to the Dc males?
Cheers to all and best of luck, Richard W.

Hello Richard, great to see you.

As you know, there's bunches of ways to skin cats. The Backcross route will sway further generations towards the recurrent parent. I would go the other way though & look long & hard at the f2's. I might then consider using f2's closest to ideal as recurrent parents, or continue on with filial breeding. Either way I wouldn't give up looking deep into the f2, new bud structures, new flavors, new everything- exciting stuff i think :D

Best Regards,
Tom
