hola beacon, i really dont know why some DC beans come out pale, i did a batch awhile back and they were normal colored, also did a cross with a DC male against the Cripple creek and got pale beans.

Racos were normal, Bubs were seconds, and they were pale. so i havent a clue what causes it.

i did a sourD X haze and 25 % of those were pale as well, but the stripin was pronounced.

maybe some type of deficiency durin flower, ??

thank ya sir, any opinion on that deep warp cross?

if the warp is anything like the Deep Wreck, it should be a good offerin. i havent grown the warp.

I think CBF nailed it, accidental hybridization.

I've also read reports bubs deep chunk having sativa plants. Bub stated that there was a chance of haze pollen causing the sativa plants.

I got a few packs of those DC's, I expect to find out they are only half DC. There are simple ways to determine if the pale DC seeds are hybrids of other indica lines or ......

The pollen parent exerts some influence on the appearance of the resulting seed.
Marijuana Botany, chapter 1, seed selection page 25.MJ Botany is a good read and only $25.

Breeders of other plants have used seed appearance as a selection tool when mulitple males may have pollenated the female.

Deep Warp came from Richard Williams, and I ain't had no experience with the Texada Timewarp, hence the curiosity but Ive done one or two DC and CC or two, I know them a lil better.lol Hold up let me correct that, I don't know shit, but I watched em do their thing a time or two..

From what I´ve seen,DC seeds are pale on average. Some mothers produce somewhat darker seeds.XyZ´s DC fn+2 look better in appearance than both Tom´s and my fn+1´s

Hi folks,

The seeds I sent Gypsy were pale because they were about 10 days shy of enough time maturing. I went ahead & sent them because they showed a good germ ratio. Mature DC seeds are a kind of mocha color. They can be small, they can be huge with a pronounced ridge- (it doesn't breed true for seed size shape)

(I don't remember sending in any Cripple Creek, that must be someone elses reproduction?)

Well, I'll be damned.....

Well, I'll be damned.....

Honored, thank ya sir, wow, I would asked for you in the thread, I just didnt' reckon you was around, thanks again. I got 6 pale and 12 mocha, Im happy all the way around. One question sir if you have the time, off the top of your head, given the known history of DC, anything you can think of to cross with that hasn't been done, that you've wondered bout, knowing the DC like you do. Now Im not asking for no trade secrets, really, just something off top of head for a closet head. Blockhead, Heri, something like that. Only concern is potency. But I understand if you don't answer that one, peeps be thinkin Im after your projects if any.lol, but hey, you're here, Im askin, may never get another chance, and by no means mean any disrespect. again thanks

It don't matter but the CC appeared as a favor, no biggie. :chin: they was yours
They were the prettiest ghani looking plants i ever grew, but all male, and I ain't good enough yet to have took advantage of that. :bat:

My pleasure amigo,

I've been dodging CBF's Tule Fog inquiries for long enough, lol..(as i hold my head in shame, for spending way too much time the last couple of years fucking around with other peoples selections)

I would cross it with the absolute other end of the spectrum, my choice is Haze.

Then i'd dive deep into the f2 gen & could happily spend the rest of my days exploring the possibilities between yin & yang- everything is possible in there.

They are two low yielding plants per square foot, but for different reasons. The Tule Fog outyielded Salmon Creek Big Bud & this is what breeding is about, to me anyhow.

Best Regards
Tom

Any plant with relatively narrow leaves & relatively short petioles should be worthy of exploration in crosses with DC in my opinion. Let your preferences guide you.

By the way, Keith Richards is like the coolest dude on the planet.

Tom it's good to see you around! Your dc is marvelous, and I see how you say if crossed with the opposite end of the spectrum (haze) you can essentially find enough (phenos) to tinker with for many years to come... Awesome statement and very true... Keep it up folks... Much love

TuleFog

a offerin from TomHill, the mother is a purple phenotype from his
OHaze line. the father a Deep Chunk.

Tule Fog Clouds the Valleys

Now that the region has seen its first significant rains of the season,
we have to watch out for dense night and morning valley fog.

It is commonly known as ""tule fog'' because of its prevalence in
marshy areas populated by tule reeds or cattails. Technically it's
a radiation fog, which forms as the ground cools off at night and
radiates heat into space.

Tule fog usually forms on the first or second clear night after it
has rained, skies have cleared, and winds are light. This happens
when high pressure returns, creating an inversion with colder air
near
the earth's surface than aloft. This in turn causes moisture on the
ground to condense into a low-lying layer of fog that develops from
the ground up. Because the coldest air settles into the lowest
elevations, such as along a river or stream, this is where fog is
most likely.

Locally the areas with the highest incidence of tule fog are in the
southern Santa Clara Valley and the Livermore Valley. In these areas
the fog will usually clear by mid-morning, but it may last all
day in the Central Valley.

Dense fog can reduce the horizontal visibility to only a few feet,
making driving extremely hazardous. Each year there are numerous
traffic accidents when fog limits visibility and vehicles can't stop
in time. Many are chain reaction pileups involving many cars that
drive into the fog and encounter stopped vehicles. In December 1997,
five people died and 28 were injured when 25 cars and 12 big rig
trucks collided inside a fog bank on Interstate 5 near Elk Grove
south of Sacramento.
