Superfruit-- 10+ years in the grow.

"A true wonderplant"

I started this thread over at OG but I've decided to move it over here because this site is more like a home with family and little of the negative karma associated with the other sites.
The crew that runs this site make it much more like a family.A comfortable place to spend your time.
My Superfruit plants have more than a month to go,so I will start from the beginning and bring the thread completely up to date. It's impossible not to enjoy hearing about this wonderful plant and hopefully there will be little Superfruits in growrooms across the globe!!
I plan to show the plant from a nice sized clone (through the vegative cut-backs which are mandatory)all the way through flower and harvest.
I consider this a one-of-a-kind plant for a couple of reasons:1-It completely floors everybody that trys it!2-And the main reason is because of the comments from my most experienced most valued tester/taster.I have 2 testers that I consider professionals when it comes to testing the finer points of the herb.I will briefly go into his knowledge with the herb.
He is a friend that grew up in California and moved to my hometown a little over 15 years ago to raise his little girls in a calmer inviroment.I think he's 55 now.He was witness to all the great herbs that came through Califonia in the 70's and early 80's.He was in the thick of the culture and witnessed all the exotic strains that were coming through Cali during this time frame, the Thai's,African's,Columbians,Hawaiian's and Jamaicans!!!!He's smoked strains that I can only dream about.
He's been smoking/testing my different test strains(aquired and/or bought) for the last 12 years or so.He's been raving about the SF since the first day I brought him a bag of it.I almost let the copies of this plant die because it was so slow to flower and get going..Most plants are finishing up when this baby is hitting her stride! But no matter what I grew after SF,it was always the same,,"it's good but it does'nt compare to the fruit."
I've always thought the same thing about it's power(I've kept it for over 10 years)but you always feel like your own opinion is biased.
I've taken "J" samples of the best Blueberry(he raved about the flavor and fruity odor),the best Sensi Star(loved the white appearance from all the trichomes),White Widows and Rhino's,Bubblegums and Afghani's,Haze/Skunk,Bubbleberry's ,Durbans,Power Plants and so many others.............the list goes on and on............He always says the same thing,(which I know is coming)It's good herb, for this or for that............but...it's not even close to the fruit.
If I had a nickle for every...................time............

"J" takes an oz. every year when he goes to visit his mom back home and his friend absolutely love it!He said there always asking him if he can get a cutting of it...?
I'm planning to share my Superfruit clone with a couple of friends here at the site to insure that nothing ever happens to the genetics if a disaster were to happen.

A few growth traits:
I have never seen a plant grow like SF.It has to be cut-back at least 2 or 3 times from the time you go 12/12.The reason for this is the explosive secondary growth that is completely out of control, and must be ruled with an iron fist!!!!!!!!!I know of nothing nor have I seen anything that branches like the SF,it goes completely ape-shit!!A lower branch from this plant could be used as a whole plant!!I usually cut the plant back to 5 to 15 branches depending on the size of the plant I intend to grow.I leave the top of each branch and 2 or 3 buds below it,,everything else must be cut!!I will post pics to show a little of the things I have discussed so far..

The only downfall of the SF is that it takes 75 days or so to finish, but it is so well worth the wait!!!!Full STONEY weed that rips you from top to bottom!Full head and body high, truly special herb.:)
When you take a nice hit of the SF you can feel the red heat rush up the back of your neck and then completely flush your face RED.This is not from coughing, you can feel the heat and flush of your face. You know the kind of hit,,,,when your eyes start to water!
The odor is a fruity, pungent, earthiness that is GREAT!Very strong odor also,it will almost burn your nose when you stick it in a fresh opened jar!!!!!!It must be sensed to understand.I'm sure many of you have your own special plant(or 2)this just happens to be my sweetheart!!(don't let my wife know I said that;) )

Origins:This is the kicker, the seed for this plant was found in the winter of '88-'89,on a surf trip to Hawaii.A friend of mine that has lived there since Jr. High school would put us up for a month each winter if we could afford to come.He got me an oz. that year from a friend that lived on the big island.I found 3 seeds in the ounce. The guy told my friend that the genetics were aquired in the Washington,Oregon coastal area, but wasn't anymore specific than that.(Back then I probably wouldn't of cared anyway)Don't know if it selfed or if it was from stray pollen???The weed was different from SF,but outstanding nonetheless.

I'm planning to self this clone to try to stabilize the best traits.I'm also making a few crosses with her.Although a little unstable the crosses from this plant are outstanding!!!!!!!!With truly wonderful individuals!:) :)
I'm planning on sending a nice sample package of buds to Gypsy and Dutchgrown when these 3 plants ripen in about 5 weeks or so.;) That way we can have a few unbiased opinions. The couple of guys recieving clone gifts will probably chime in also once they get their little care packages close to finished.I may send some bud samples to a few others around the site!!

I'm going to post a few pics now from the start with a large clone before flowering. Also what it looks like before and after a cut-back.............Photo URL:

Looking good there Capt. I would think this strain would able to be good for people that might have a mold problem. It looks like this strain is very open and that air can travel through the plant well. I also noticed all the bud sites and would think this would also be a good strain for those SCROGGer's out there with some training. Nice thread and keep up the great work.

nice story captin and great pics , one thing i like about it that i noticed was the leaves are on long stems , keeping them well out of the budsites way ... kinda love reading intriguing cannabis stories like that ... thanks for sharing it and hope you dont mind if i come along for the ride on your thread .. cheers ..

Sf is just a clone in it's present form.I have some gibberelic acid on the way to self her and see just where I stand as far as stability. It will be stabilized over the next year,so we will have to see how it turns out.
I'm also crossing it to Blueberry, and to my favorite Bubblegum. These crosses should be absolutely outstanding.Superfruit usually dominates the cross.

Almost forgot,I will have about 10 packs of Superfruit X Neville's Haze also.I'm very curious to see how she matches up to a nearly pure sativa.Should be exotic in quality although the flower time will be extreme.:( I usually don't sweat flowering times although I know many do.
Take care...................CC:)

ever thought of crossing her with C-99 may drop the flowering time some while keeping sativa dominate traits and high! you have some purty Gals their forsure, love to have a clone of her myself if you deciede to share In the states here so I dont know about the mail time wise or if you are on this side of the Pond or not. Glad you brought this thread over great genetics is always fun to read about better to grow yourself but can live thru your post ..

When you self the superfruit will you be putting the resulting seeds on seedbay. I'd love to grow her out. 75 days isnt that bad...could be worse.

Thanks fellas,it's greatly appreciated

Thanks fellas,it's greatly appreciated

Thanks Hooked-on-Grown,we'll see how it goes and go from there. If you do get it be sure to PM me and I'll see if I can slide you a little something extra.

Omega7,yes the results will be put up on seedbay, but there will be a few Superfruit crosses up for a while before any pure forms are released.TheSuperfruit X Blueberry and the Superfruit X Bubblegum should be outstanding indica dominant crosses.Strong highs and wonderful flavors and odors!

I'm also going to cross it to Neville's Haze, but that's more of an experiment and will take a long time to flower.I doubt these will go up on Seedbay,I will probably grow them out myself to see the results before posting them for auction.

Friendly, thanks for the kind words "friend":) !You are 100% right in that time is the #1 priority for something you really care about.I'm sure you will be very happy with your efforts ,you are definitely going in the right direction!!Photo URL:
