I gotta wonder if those pencil lead carvings are photo shopped. I understand that there are artists who work in very small sizes, but carving is a skill that is very different than painting, or any other method that is an additive process. Carving, a subtractive process, is much less forgiving of mistakes. Once you carve away too much material, well, your pretty much fucked. Carving pencil lead to such miniscule proportions, and having the carving be so absolutely perfect....well, in this day and age of photo shop, I feel my skepticism starting to rise....

Yeah I think those are real. I'm a part time artist and to this day Michelangelo is considered the standard of what great sculptors should seek. Michelangelo said he saw the finished work already inside the clump of marble or stone and just had to release it...
