I shot a spider up here in minnesota that was as big as a catchers mitt. hadda shoot it because the flip side was using something else & missing, if I missed I'd then have to burn down the garage or never use it again. my .410 w/#6 shot did it and only left a golf ball sized hole to patch. I had it fumigated twice later to decimate any descendants.
