Super critical auto indoor grow

Hello,

so my two last WW auto seedlings died because of... I don't know actually why. Probably because of a large pot and overwatering (it was quite hard for me to understand what moisture level it should be and remain the proper one).

Now I'm starting with Super Critical auto's. I've bought 5 seeds, germinated only 1 to see where it will lead to.

This time I used the same method (germinated in soil covered with plastic). Germination was successful, sprout showed after 3 days. A sprout was with the seed shell on it, but after 24 hours it fell off.

This time I'm using about 1 litre (or a lil bit smaller) pot (made from the plastic bottle). I cut some drainage holes in the bottom, the water runs off very quickly, even after very small amounts of water.

I'm using organic soil with only organic nutes in it (just the neccessary ones, of course, with no pre-release fertilizers) and tap water (I let it stay for about 24 hours). The lights this time are two CFL's (one 45W 2700 K and one 25W 4000 K). Later I'll switch to 250W Dual Spectrum HPS. The reason for using CFL's is because I'm afraid to start with HPS again (all my last dead seedlings were started under HPS from the start).

The seed sprouted on day 26, I turned on the lights on 27, so this is actually her 3rd day of life. What do you think?

Seedling is located in my room, in a small cartboard box covered with mylar. It has no ventilation except some big holes, so the air could reach the box. Then I'll switch under HPS, there will be a lot of ventilation (that room is made for growing).

I have one question now. When you suggest switch CFL's to HPS?

I hope you could help. Cheers.

And... What do you guys think?

I also recognized some slightly yellowing on the edge of one leaf, but I think I just slightly burnt it, so the lights are further now. Hope it's not anything else.

I am extremely new to growing(still to plant a seed) but some of what I have been reading says to turn the CFL bulbs on its side so that there is more light area covering the plant. I could be wrong though

I will be following this one

Yeah, I know that, I'm actually moved the lights a little to make a clearer photo. : )

I also recognized that new very very small true leaves has purple dots or actually are looking slightly purple, but then they grow a bit more they just turn normally green. Is it normal? For me it looks naturally and I don't want to think that it would be a problem. Well, I want to know more at first.

So, by accident the first one was stunted (now recovering very slowly), so I decided to germinate two seeds more. Germinated, as always, in soil. This time in final containers. One is 1 gal. and another is 2 gal. Now the new ones are about at day 13.
I started right with 250W HPS.

What do you think?

I chaged the soil. Actually, that one I used (ecological) mixed with some cactus soil and regular potting soil with some ferts in it. And... Girls started growing again. The first still sit in old soil. I don't know what was wrong actually, but I guesse the soil. The first stopped growing after a week and the first set of true leaves started yellowing and slowly dying. No she's growing, bet very slow. Looks healthy now, anyway.

nice thread so far mate, keep up the good work.

whats the temps in there? how are you extracting?
how far is that light bulb from them?
They lookin a bit hot/crispy to me, how hot is it on the tops of their heads? if u put ure hand there, does ure hand get hot real quickly?

Not questioning you m8, asking so i can learn more myself.
im a newbie , so wait for the pros to step in.

Nice work tho..:woohoo:
Seedlings seem to be growing well, and nice nodal spacing...
im gonna keep an eye on this one.
thanks m8.

Ambients temps are about 24-26, I let them breathe with an outside air by opening window from the nearest room. I have intake fans near the ceilings (there are some big holes) and oscilating fan works as an extraction fan (I keep my door of growroom a bit opened, so significant number of heat goes outside the growroom and also new air can reach the growroom through the door).

When I put my hand at the canopy, I feel it's warm, but not hot. I keep them at about 10 inches from the bulb. Yeah, they look slightly crispy, but I don't consider this as problem, because they're growing and growing quite fast. My humidity is low, about 30-40 when light on... I just do what I can. And they get what I can give.

excellent, thanks for the details.
Yeah man, they seem to be growing fast, so keep up the good work bro.
Whatever your doing is working, so dont stop..
Hope i didnt offend bro, was just asking outta curiosity.

Thanks man, I'm trying to do all I can.

Here's some pictures today. Nodes getting bigger and of course I can see a significant improvement on all the plant.

Day 15.

Thanks, mate. First I was thinking about letting my girls just grow simply, but now I'm thinking to try to LST them or one of them soon. I never did this before actually. How's your grow going? I see you have some nice thing going on. :)
