I never really understood why sunrise sunset settings were there on the newer light controllers, but now Im thinking it helps lower humidity spike at lights out at least...
Any other reasons to use this function?
If it helps with lights out hum spike how long are tall ramping down for?

During the first and last hour of light, I manually switch the ballasts to minimum power.
The idea is to start photosynthesis an hour earlier before the thermal shock and, during the last hour of the photoperiod (when the ballasts and LEDs are at maximum temperature), change the ratio between visible light and heat emitted.

It seems to me that the plants are less stressed than other cycles, but for now I can't say if - in relation to the quality of the flowers - this is a good thing or not.

Ever woke up with a bright light in your face? Kinda hurts at the back of your eyes. Kinda stressful if you have evolved for a million years to gradually waking up and going to sleep like a plant. Easy is right. Unstressed plants are happy plants.

Light spectrum frequencies change at sunrise and sunset, as well as intensity. Eventually lights will be able to sort of recreate this. With artificial light certain chemical compounds gradually disappear (fogotten) from the genetics over generations. There is no replacement for sunlight. Sunlight that it evolved to use. But more important to short day plants is the skotoperiod.

On my Siemens Logo I have one channel left with which I could ramp the lights up and down.
It's more programming and I'm not in the mood but it's definitely possible.

If implemented I will probably ramp 30 min up and 90 min down.

I had to look that up but that's the dark period? Very interesting!
