Sunnyside's Sea of Green...Microgarden style

Hi sunny....I reckon a digital timer is what you want...something that you can set for only a couple of minutes at a time.....usually the minimum switching time on an ordinary digi timer is 1 minute...... I reckon however long you set it for, and wether you choose to longer floods less often or shorter more often,- either way a digital timer will give you tons more control than a segmantal timer. I have a one which ill be using to time the feeds on some RW slabs, it has 25 on and offs per day...this wasa more expensive one but the cheaper ones will probably have about 10-12.
If I ever get past this Ebb and Flow curse of mine( ive had a table for a year and every time i take some clones to fill it, something goes wrong) ill be right here with you mate...until then my bubblers and aquafarm will do, but ive wanted to do SOG on tables ever since I joined here and Saw Tex and Billys threads... Quite inspiring to the newbie I was about 18 months ago.....
Ill still be growing in soil though like you, and trying organics for that side of growing now.
good luck with the next round mate..

Sunny-

I have fairly large plant containers that take a little while to fill up, but I like to flood the table for the amount of time it takes to fill the containers and overflow them, then a few minutes more than that to help dissolve & wash away any nutrient salts that were concentrated/dried between floods. For me, this works out to 15 minutes with the pump on. I run the pump every 2.5 to 3 hours while the lights are on and then once during the middle of the dark period to get fresh oxygen to the roots.

The frequency of the flood is determined by the plant size & root development. When the plants are small and have small root systems, I flood every 2 hours. Once they grow some and develop good root systems, I flood less frequently, about every 3 hours. When the plants get larger, I watch for signs that the plants are wilting between floods and flood more frequently if I do see wilting. I like to flood a bit more frequently than once every 4 hours because the supply of oxygen to the roots is refreshed each time the water drains away. There is also more pH shift in the nutrient solution that is left behind on the rocks during a long interval between floods, which can cause temporary nutrient lockouts; flooding more frequently cuts down this fluctuation in the pH levels.

You'll be a lot better off with a digital timer. You can set things to the minute and they usually have a battery backup so they keep time even if the power goes out.

Awesome Sunny! :woohoo: Kickass chunky nugs bro! Your first time with hydro? 15 minutes every 3 hours is pretty much Standard Operating Procedure.

Ambre thanks a ton for that info...brotha that is what this place is for. I appreciate your input greatly. I have programmed my fair share of digi timers...f that bro. LMAO If I never see another digital timer in my life it wont hurt my feelings at all. LOL I would rather spend a penny and get a nice cyclestat rather than another digital.

Bonzo...I think I just might try that cycle.

Harry...brotha man how are you? Dont worry we can be noobs together...lol I am getting ready to fill this system up again...with a few changes, and a new strain so keep checkin in with me to see how they are comming. I was thinking of a waterfarm grow too....that'll have to wait a little while tho. As far as personal stash and quality smoke their is no comparison with my organic soil and the hydro...but it is too much fun not to have a hydrogarden on the side.

151 grams total dry weight...not bad for 2 square feet. :) :)

600 watts over a 2x3 garden...reflector height is 3 feet and stationary, so my plants are crammed in. Lumens per foot is is something like 10,000, and wpsf is 100!!! So to say this is a high light environment is an understatement. I think the key to any indoor garden is light intensity, that is your bottleneck fellas. Even if you have everything right, if your light isn't intense your buds and yeild wont be either.

As far as stretch...these are sensi stars, and a super squat pheno ta boot. They went in at 3 inches and ended up at 12, which is normal for this plant. What was different was how much faster the hydro stars were as opposed to the soil stars...The plants grew much faster and stronger, with the flowers weighing much more on the hydro.

600 watt light
90,000 initial lumens
2x3 overall space
1x2 used for hydrogarden
100 watts per square foot of garden space
15000 lumens at top of plant
3750 lumens at base of plant (roughly)
151 grams total dry weight = 75.5 grams/per foot

Like I saide before I had 6 plants in a sea of grean format in a 2x1 tray. i ebbed and flowed with superblom A and B with liquid karma and the new pk boosts from Foxfarm. PPM's got to 1200 at the peak and the ph stayed within range (5.5-6.5) the entire grow.

any other questions....

I basically had 3 plants per square foot igohydro...no veg time is needed. If I would have vegged I believe my yeilds would have suffered.

that is truly amazing... having a supply of clones is nice. i am thinking of doing something a little bigger, SOG in a rubbermaid tub full of hydroton. ebb and flow (flood and drain) to keep it simple. or maybe drip. but definitely SOG. also i want to build an aero or bubble cloner. probably bubble. i have been LSTing a ton of clones so that i can have a lot of clones for this type of thing. lookin good! thanks for the thread! :) :joint:

this is my as-of-yet uncut LST mother plant im calling Butter:

these are more LST ladies in smaller pots, im going to take clones from these, transplant, veg a week and then flower in LST SOG style:

this is how i clone for soil:

:listen2: I've been thinking about a little E&F system to do no-veg clones...
I've spent an hour or two at Hemp Depot in the plumbing department engineering systems in my mind...
like using 6" PVC pipe and T's for net pots with hydroton..with this pipe
system I have in mind you would easily be able to use it as E&F, Drip, NFT, or
Aero...with just a couple of quick modifications..I dunno..maybe I'll just make a simple table system first...
Your little budsicles got me thinking about it again...Right on Sunny

p2p and big toke...I am glad you both enjoyed. I liked the growth sooo much that I decided to grab another system. So now I have two to play with!! :) One is using net cups, hydroton, and chem nutes. The other is using ready-gro with organics. It is hard to get pics of theses systems while they are running...sorry about that. But the cycle I have set up will have me harvesting one system every thirty days, so look for those pics once a month here in this thread. The next harvest is looking to be in another 3 weeks or so.

T.H. Seeds Bubblegum...

If I had to speculate on the yield...I would say between 6-8 ounces of premo bud out of a 2x1 space!!! I will definately have some hard counts in a week or so, needless to say I have exceeded my expectations.

wholly molly....

sunny, any ideas how many days start to finish for each grow? I assume the 2nd was vegged a little longer...

nope...it is a different strain though. There was NO veg...the clones were put in flower as soon as they were rooted.
