Stupid Potent Butter With Minimal Trim

Snook

Still Learning
I would like to try the butter on toast with Vegemite, would a reasonable amount spread over a slice be a sufficient dose?

Depends on how you make it... running an ounce of quality bud with a pound of butter/ghee (2 cups) returns 1.75 (or so) cups of budda. with that budda, I make 24 cookies out of each 1/2 cup.. each cookie can put a grown man or women down, 2 can feel like a heart attack.. if I were to put it onto toast, I'd go slow at first. :tiphat:

Thank you for this recipe, Terpene, as well as the link to the "7 easy canna butter steps" thread. I've got a bunch of trim lying around and I've been pondering what to do with it until now :)

I cook my butter for maximum 2 hours and is really strong. I think is no need for longer cooking, there is more physical process going on in the pot <dissolving grease-THC in fat> rather than chemical process.

What kind of a return do you get from the butter? I just did this and only got 65g of butter at the end, when I started with a stick which weighs 112g. WTF? I even poured water over the cheesecloth before straining so it didn't adsorb as much.

  • Plant Matter Removal / Refrigeration: After the mix has blackened, pour it through a fine metal screen or fine food strainer into a bowl just as you would normally. Feel free to rinse and press the hot trim "clump" with hot water and a metal spoon through the screen into the bowl as the additional water will not hurt the mix. Take some time on this part, you will get more butter back this way. After straining, put the mix in the fridge to cool, harden and separate for several hours.

Here's a step by step on the pressing process. As you can see, the plant matter is nearly dry after a few minutes of pressing.

I usually get about 90-95% of the amount I use back. Try using a metal screen with a metal spoon instead of cheesecloth.

I make CocoCanna Oil and use a Potato Ricer to get most of the oil.

I get 15 oz out of 16 oz processed. I have a Thread in Cooking with Cannabis Forum.

Let me know if you have any questions:party: I use the ricer with Clarified Butter also.

So I was reading about butter and realized that it's not 100% fat. It's partially water. So the butter that you start with really matters, in terms of quality and fat content. I haven't heard of anyone getting 90%+, as there's not even that much fat to return normally. Seems 75% is pretty standard.

I used 7g of popcorn and got 65g of butter after 13 hours of simmer. I ate 4g of butter last night as a test and I'd say it was weak as fuck. Going to try 8g tonight. Eating raw butter is so gross. Anyone have a good way to use the butter as a test without making the whole batch, just the one bite?

If you make Budder..try Clarified Butter

If you make Budder..try Clarified Butter

Clarified Butter has most of the water removed. Unlike regular butter. It's more expensive but you will get less loss.

That's why I usually use Coconut Oil. It has a higher Oil percentage and NO water.

My original attempts with butter have put me off butter completely - same way getting all hose faced from my first batch of brownies has knocked brownies off my list for good. Coconut butter and peanut butter cookies FTW!

I have been making Budder for a while and have made a mess most of the time.

About a year ago I bought a MagicButter machine (not an advertisement, just a satisfied customer) and it has helped with the mess and consistently (repeatability).

I have found making 1 pound batches of CocoCanna Oil with an ounce+ of bud will yield about 100 Kick Ass Cookies.

Just did the math, you're closer than I was. I usually use 10-11 tablespoons of butter per batch and get back 8-9 tablespoons.

I finnally made it to a kitchen supply and picked up a potato ricer got best amount of butter out of batch yet and least mess I had made so far. will get measurements next time to verify ROI. A batch for me is 1.5 oz of trim to one lbs of butter . Did get 11 oz of budder but I am sure some of that loss is water loss from my original unmelted butter so going to use clarified next time to be sure.

Also discovered that the cinnamon sludge that sticks to the bottom of the re solidified budder is kick in the head spread on toast just a 1/4 teaspoon set me quite well for most of the day. Took it off the patty (scraped off w butter knife down to clean budder patty) after the second wash so had very clean budder and water after the third wash so it cut one wash from my past tries when I did four total to get it to clean waste water. I will absolutely do that from now on .. anyone else try that?

The Potato Ricer did the trick for me  I'm sure my wife is happy with less mess

I put an oz of popcorn buds, in a pot with 7 cups of water and a stick of butter, about 2 hours ago. Seems to me like the water is evaporating out of the mixture. I'm adding boiling water every now and then. Will that effect potency? the boil is 200 degrees.

Reduce the boil to a simmer. Stirring occasionally, 2-3 hours should be enough time.

You should notice a difference in the stew and then you can strain out the plant matter. I use a potato ricer to get the most out of it.

Pour your solution into a bowl and put in the fridge. You can separate the Budder and throw out the green water as there is NO THC in it.

If your Buds are any good you should have some kick ass Budder.

FWIW - I use 1 oz of Bud to 1 pound of Coconut Oil to yield 100 X 60mg THC cookies.

Good luck
