im already about to fill the first raised bed with plants should have a pretty good start on filling the second bed as well....still stuff to sprout yet for the veggie garden,already been using plenty of fresh herbs...doin pretty well over here,hope the snow is done flying up north for yah

all my maters are still around 4 inches tall in little peat pots but they have been outside all night for about a week now so they will be ready to go in the ground in a couple weeks probably...
yup,i got about a grand in compost and manure and kelp meal and earthworm castings and all sorts of stuff plus all the lumber not to mention landscaping plants....and i hijacked...i mean rescued most of the desert stuff from the lot behind me...
hope that manure had a chance to cook itself down. If it's too hot it'll burn up everything
it was composted for 2 years,i used a pretty standard garden bed recipe from one of the books about gardening in this state,not to mention a whole crapload of old rootballs to fill it up,and i let it sit well moistened for about 3 months before i planted anything and watered it with compost tea every couple of weeks...
i planted two kinds of sauce tomato and some romas for sun dried so im going to just make sauce and freeze it and dry the romas,plus a whole crapload of basil to make pesto with...i actually need to look at the garden calendar and sprout a few more things..i have space for a cantaloupe mound,and i think a few squash plants,those take some room....
I'm going to try a 4X4 foot raised bed so I can have just a chance on keeping my damn german shepherd pup out. Read in Mother Earth News about compact area growing. Thought I'd try it till the hound learns what no dig means. Thinking of some containers of some kinds. What I'd really like is a small patch of pole beans but that's a dream for now.
