No problem, i didnt want you guys to argue back and forth and yet still be wrong. Its a simple answer. But you aint gotta be italian to know that. Stromboli aint italian food. Its an american idea of what italian food is but by no means authentic italian. It was made originally in the USA. But they got the name from a volcano in italy

Yeah, a stromboli that I know of has mozzarela and is rolled, it's fixed like a pizza without the sauce, and then kinda rolled up. But it has more meat than a calzone. A calzone has ricotta too and less meat, and calzones are just folded over. Also, I've seen calzones with vegetables, but never a stromboli with vegetables. And never seed a stromboli with sauce in it or on it, but they often give you a cup of sauce to dip it in.

This is standard from my experience, which is just from the so called "authentic italian" pizza places I've eaten at.

Mmm stromboli is one of my favorite foods. I just had some with some soup the other night when it snowed and it really hit the spot. If you look in the supermarket they have pre-made strombolis from Unos or something...throw it in the oven for like 30 min...mmm so good.

cooked cook

bake at 420 until nicely toasted

OK, all his talk of stromboli is making me hungry :yummy:
but all this talk, and no pics??!?! what the heck kinda stromboli thread is this?!?!?
This is clearly a job for a chef....

(cook straps on his apron, rolls up sleeves of chef coat, sharpens his knives, and steals images from culinary website)

detp 1: get you some dough...throw in some stuff.

step 2: roll that shit up like a fat ass spliff. Note: no need to lick edge of dough.

step 3: let her rise on a cornmealed paddle, slash de top

step 4: bake dat bad boy in a hot ass oven...while you get yourself nicely baked :joint:

:bigeye: Oh hell yeah. That's what I'm talkin about.

take the time to roast up 1 more J to let it cool a touch, otherwise searing hot mozarella will kill you dead.

COME AND GET IT!!

EAT IT UP!! :yummy:
howzabout a lil bowl o marinara on the side?
Get yourself a lovely beverage, and you're golden

the pizzerias i've worked at sell calzones and strombolis, calzones are typically ricotta parm and mozz, but toppings can be added

strombolis are ham salami pepperoni provolone and mozz w/ or w/o sauce...there are variations of course, veggie, turkey, burger, meatball, sausage, cheese...endless possibilities

you want a yummy stromboli try a steak stromboli with peppers onions mushrooms and marinara w/ mozz

Well, thanks to all you assholes, esp. cooked cook, I am now starving and all I have in the fridge is a couple pot pies and some cheap ass Fart City burritos. Looks like it's time for a road trip. Thanks to an Afro-Italian(Mr. Nevermind) we now know the difference between calzone and stromboli and I realize that the fake stromboli that I have been eating is really not a strom. Fucker still tastes good, though. Wish I had one!
