Strains that SHORTEN FlOWERING TIME

Hi there...I wanted to pick everyones brains...I am looking for a strain that will bring down the flowering time of a 100% sativa but while keeping the sativa qualities as much as possible...I want to take a quick sativa like C-99 or Apollo 11 and use the quick sativa as my mother and a 100% Sativa like lets say GOLDEN TIGER from ace as my father...and try and make a manageable SATIVA with a flwering time of 10-12 weeks instead of 14-18 weeks...any other strain sugesstions..I have a few in mind...Bushmans Ciskei, F-13, C-99 but was also thinking of Bogglegum cause I read it has crazy fast pheno's..I know of Green Crack but have no access to any clones

Any other suggestions...for a quick sativa to cross with a long flowering sativa to bring down flowering times

my suggestion is to get a hybrid or an indica to add quick flowering genes, then work on the offspring to get the sativa high back. but be careful, i added a male kush to a mostly sativa female and now they all take on the kush genes.

the best one i have used is blue nepalese from reeferman. it brings the flowering time down and only adds some flavor but the high pretty much stays the same. i found the c99 waters down the high of a good sativa. i think f-13 will be a good one too. i'm in the process of making some crosses with the f-13 now to see how she works.

Highland Nepalese from Cannabiogen, check into it. It's also the Nepalese Reef used.

Maybe a Durban/Lesotho/SouthAfrican and stay with the crazy African genes!? My Lesotho keeper is a resin producing fiend! It has an energetic and strong high, with a 10 week flower period (less if vegged under 14 hours of light).

Chefboy6969,
I think you got the right idea, you just got to choose which direction is yours. I just germinated some F-13 x Tanzanian Magic, F-13 x Willie Nelson , Golden Tiger x (F-13xGrapeKrush), and Panama x GrapeKrush that were made last season. I also have thought about using C99 or some other fast sativa leaning hybrid, but the Johhny Blaze(Neville's Haze x B130 BluBrySat father of F-13) grows here on ICmag and my own experience with f-13 set my course. I will let you know what the DJ genetics do to the finish times of these sativas and which direction seems most workable, good luck with your quest! Keep your eyes on the prize and your mind open to new possibilities....

You can go the "emergency route"

Grab a pack of Nirvana's white widow and grow to 40 days...then pull the plant. If you got too much ferts...Water cure the buds for 3 days.

You get an excellent high and long lasting high too. Those White Strains know how to kick butt.Just apply Gently. ;-)

You can be high for 3 days off half an gram. :blowbubbles:

I've done C99,BogBubble.. with the Blueberries strains..It has a stony high as well as coming back down clear headed.White strains makes one more stony and sleepy as the weed wears off.

I like the White Strains.

oops read the thread wrong..lol

If you pick a faster plant and keep breeding it to the mothers,sister,daughter..you might drop the flower times quicker....takes alot of work and room.

Check out the background of some HFH strains.
Stuff like Purpurea Ticinensis may do the trick.
Also Grapefruit and Early Pearl comes to mind as simpler alternatives.

I'll be going for the similar quest soon....anyone know how would a haze breed with, let's say, DGS DTC99?
maybe some durban/c99 phenos might be just the thing were looking for

You mentioned Golden Tiger as the male you want to use in your crosses... i actually had such a male two years ago and crossed him with pretty much everything i had in the flowering room at the time and last year i tried some of those beans outdoors at 46 N... None of those plants didn't show any preflowers before mid september. The mothers were way much quicker to do so, i'm talking Leshaze, Kalichakra and Satori so i guess it all comes down to a proper selection of the individuals you want to use as parents... don't take my word for it but i remember reading somewhere around here that when it comes to the Malawi genes males tend to be dominant in crosses meaning that they will most often transmit their long flowering traits to their offspring so you might want to try the Golden Tiger as a mother instead....

The african Sativa, chiskei has proven to shorten flowering times, while retaining the soaring high. Nepalese, Deep Chunk, all seem to be dominant in hybrids and will shorten the flowering time. Not all strains are specific to shorten the flowering time in progeny, but some will have dominant alleles, and you can usually predict the outcome (Deep chunk is one that comes to mind). Its all about knowing the line your working with, making it easier to predict what traits will be passed, what will dominate, and how the traits will recombine.

Best of luck :tiphat:

Iron_Lion

ACE Nepalese Jamaican, 9-10 wk 100% sativa, and it makes some really pretty buds, she also stays really short which would be a plus for an indoor sativa.

This is one I grew a few years back under my old 250 haps, I will be growing her again next run and see how she does under larger lights.

You can see in that one pic she threw some weird growth pattern like I've never seen before, no central cola what so ever.

If your going to use a GRADE A pop like the golden tiger I would use at least 4 different mothers 2 pure indicas and 2 short flowering sativas then you save lots of genitics to work with and you learn to really tightin up your selection skills.Infact if it was me i would also throw yer best golden tiger mom in too

There is a Power Kush (DinaFem) pheno which finishes incredibly fast. Around 45 days. Im not sure how hard it is to find. I only popped one that I got as a freebie, and it happened to be the super fast finisher. After running a search on the strain I found that I wasnt trippin and others had found finish times of 6 weeks. It was really potent smoke with a nice gummybear smell to it. The yield wasnt that great, but I think that was due to it ripening so fast. It would surely bring down flowering time if bred with a pure sativa.

wow thanks everyone for their responses...to be honest I am not much of a breeder..just a pollen chucker lol...but I am sick and tired of this drab indicas all over the market...I need me some serious sativa power...I am thinking about the Highland Nepalese thanks Lean Green and CalcioErba2004 it seems thats what most breeder's use to bring down flowering times of landrace sativas..

also just starting reading about Nanda Devi..from RSC

The first thing that I thought of was Skunk #1. Although it might be harder to find a good representation of the OG skunk 1, it does a pretty good job at bulking up/lowering the flower time of sativas (Sam's OHxSkunk1 is a very good example of this).

Then again, earlier sativas like the African ones mentioned would give you more of a 'pure sativa',
