Strains that rock that you can't just buy (ever or anymore)

I'm pretty newb, trying to get more experience and move to intermediate. Looking for that awesome strain or to to try next and have found a few that sound great, but can't be bought. Stuff like this catches my interest...

For instance:

Thunderfuck?

Some clone going around in California that has no seed? (though I read about someone that went to the dam and said that the cali cutting is better than most stuff in A-dam)

Bog Strains

Original Nevelles Haze

Brothers Grimm C99 (others avaliable)

Trainwreck

"old Kali mist"



Wondering first off whats the scoop on these strains and thought it might also be cool to find out what other strains fit into this category: Awesome but cannot be had from seed anymore....

What strain?
What was it like?
Where/when could you get it? and what happened? Why not sold any more?

I'll chime in. The strains that fits this category are...

AFRICAN BLACK: It was around from the 70's - early 90's. It was considered the most powerful smoke in the world by many. The bud was 85% jet black 15% rich Chocholate brown. A skinny pin joint would be all that was needed to send 4-5 tokers off on a non stop 3+ hour soul trip. The tiny bud tore like taffy and smoked smooth as glass. The smoke from this bud was very white and thick. The smell was like a skunky earth spice, it stank so good. If this bud had a bad point it was that there was no safe amount to smoke. One or two puffs would send you on a non stop soul ride for hours.


Next up is chocholate:

This bud smelled and tasted like chochlate. We called it DoDo brown. The smoke was not so overly strong but it was warm and soothing to body and it tasted like a hershy kiss. I still get it today. This bud was and is brown as can be with no green in site.

Thia stick

Strong green bud. Nice soaring rush. It was called thai stick because of all the little tiny branches that criss x crossed the bud. Not much meat on the bud it was about 60/40 bud to twig. But when i seen those unmistakable thai sticks i knew it was the real deal.

Old school skunk:

Lite lime green soft and dank. The bud smelled like a dead skunk even before it was burned. This bud was strong stuff. It would stink out half the block if there was no wind. Now looking back it's funny that we had to take into account the direction and speed of the wind when we lite this on up.

Red hair skunk:

Not nearly as strong or stink as the light green (imho) but a nice bud none the less.

I think this is a good short intro to some of the buds that are not around as much as they used be. Notice i did not say that they are gone. Most people think the dark brown chocolate is dead and gone but i smoke it every weekend. It just depends on where you live and your contacts. O yea one more thing dont give up on the bagseed DNA. Grown out with care and cured correctly you will find that it beats the hell out of the original old dry street bud it came from. Good luck PPDODOBOY

i think ive had this!! unreal potent BLACK gooey buds!!!!!!!!!!!! time frame sounds right too!! ;)

Nevilles Haze is still available, just that Shanti and Neville haven't come around to produce more seeds... hopefully soon.
I'd have to say I would like to get some strains from SSSC (Super Sativa Seed Club) since they had the strains that made up most of the strains today. Any Pluton crosses out there?
Original Haze is another strain that can't be got... yet. I would want to find a pheno that is not like the generic (stabilized for certain characteristics) Hazes being sold today.

there are tons of clone-only strains rock, thats why people go nuts for them! also, brothers grimm stock, sssc, etc.

african black fans be on the look out for reeferman to release this strain. there is a thread in his breeder forum about him currently working with it.

my dad grew this plant back in 02...03 maybe,he kept a cut of her,she yeilded well without feeding heavily,1 feeding at the begging of flowering and she was set till harvest,very deep skunk smell,although when u walked up to the plant,it had a sweet fruity smell but with that roadkill smell.dark popcorn buds,it was so purple it was black,after a 4 days,it was dry to the touch,where it would crumble upon touching,he called it afghani,i called it bananna bud,because the buds actually looked like a 3 inch bananna.i decided to snag a budd out of the bagg,packed it,took a deep breath then exhaled,and decided to hit the bowl.i only got 2 hitts because of the dryness,(ill remember those hits till i die)in 5 mins,i was rolling,very deep head stone,so stoned i couldnt even walk back to my house,i was probally about a 2 min walk away.so i just sat there watching squirels and birds play around,it started racy,but then moved to a couchlock high,for about 2 hours,overall i would say i was stumblin stoned for 3 hours.looking back now i think it was k2 and not afghani as he said,i could be wrong,but i have my suspiciouns.Sadly a neighbour reported suspicous activity,and ended up getting busted,the clones got tooken along with his buds and his bowls.i would give everything to get that clone back.a great strain,i still remember skunk red hair,where the hell has it gone,i havent seen that for about 10 years now,i loved it because you could smoke a bowl,get that skunky taste and be calmly stoned for a couple hours,go home and not here your parents say,whats that smell.did you play witha skunk today?lol thanks for the good memories man.i feel stoned just remembering about it.peace

most likely the african black underwent some kind of decaying process which increased the ratio of thc to other plant matter. this would account for the extreme potency and black color.

the secret then is less in the genes than in the curing method.

So far haven't seen any listed that aren't still available through the right peeps. ANd I believe one of those african seed banks still offers a black strain. High in THV or something weird like that.

Blue moon, etc try dutch passion.

thunderfuck-goto alaska (my friend did) and you can get seeds.

Even willies wonder is back thanks to rezdog.

The african black was the only black smoke i ever had. The bud came compressed in brick form from jamaica. I have heard of the cure argument before. But if the magic was in the cure there should of been 10 diffrent weeds with 10 diffrent taste and ten diffrent highs all potent all cured black. Just as they were many diffrent cured "Greens" all diffrent with many diffrent taste and highs. For the black it did not work out that way. In the end there was only one black weed the magic african black.

I understand, but I wouldnt waste my money on DP's watered down version, thats why I listed it.

about two years ago i got a cut called widowstar from the yellow house i think it was a 50/50 hybrid indica/sativa and it was like smoking stars you got so high and would stay there and it yeilded great .outside in a 5 gallon container it yeilded about 6 oz damn i wish i could find it im guessing it originated in northern cali somewhere
