Strains that perform well in Ky?

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with strains what would perform well in SEastern Ky? Preferably mold resistant and finishes between september to october. I've grown here for years but its all been locally bred genetics and clones. You never know exactly what strain you have around here but you know the bud comes from here, outdoor grown and has potential to be good. I've came across some of the best bud i've ever tried from bagseed around here but i've never got to keep any mothers or bred much.

I do know that Afghani strains are very popular here and usually Northern Light and Skunk Hybrids. IMO Northern Lights molds easily and skunk takes forever to finish. I had one a couple years ago I didnt chop till almost the second week of October. As fas as afghani goes, its really good smoke, performs well and finishes fine but the high gets old after a while. I'm assuming most blue strains would be great, really would like to give Dr. Atomic BB X NL a try, but its sold out. If you can help me, please do, as time is running out lol. Thanks guys.

And has anyone had any experience with California Hash Plant outdoors? I've got access to a CHP mother. Also along with Kalishnikova, Power Kush, Kolossus, and Rosetta Stoned. Which I know nothing about any of those strains for the outdoors.

Sorry about the typo but in the first post I meant I had a Skunk that didn't finish till the second week of November. Would not have a problem at all with one going until second week of october lol.

i have alot of exp with East ky. delahaze is the one that i have grew for last 3 years here. im sure u know how wet last summer and fall was which was very odd for us in august last year. everthing i had out got some sort of mold except the delahaze. i didnt use no prevention sprays or nothing last year either. its just one rugged tough fkn strain with top quailty smoke and yeilds. i already told u the strains im running this year in addition to the Dela. biddy early, serious 6,the church all has really good reviews when it comes to smoke and mold resistance. blue hashplant, blue widow, cali hashplant has also got good reviews from a few Ky growers on this fourm. check the strain guide as well! power kush is suppose to be a fast strain but i dont think it would do well here bc of the hard nugs and the humidity we get. easy sativa, purple maroc, and sweet purple are also done by 15th of sept at our lat. i got a freebie of incredible bulk as well that im doing. its suppose to be a monster producer, mold resistant and very high thc. i seen a youtube grow of it and indoor and it had some huge buds on it. the guy even had a lab test report on it done and it was tested at 23% so i know its potent as well, plus it should be finished by 3rd week of sept

Wasn't silverback from ky? If so check his favorite strain list.

yes he lived about 45 min from me. i wish i had known him before he passed. i could have learned so much more. he loved maple leaf indica, kc33 and sensi star from what ive read. the kc33 is the best guerilla strain ever he said. i will be trying it next year for sure. im gonna follow team microbes grow this year and see how it turns out:tiphat:

Def run a search for Silverback. He was gone before my time here, but his threads have an enormous wealth of information. A truly remarkable character.

and there's your #1 answer.

I'm sure there are many more these days that would do well, but never hurts to have a few proven winners in the lineup.

Very good advise here. I always try to plant 1/2-3/4 proven winners and 1/4-1/2 experimental strains. This way a decent harvest is guaranteed regardless of how the experimental strains do.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions guys! I have read pretty much all of silver backs postings before I posted this, but I was just wondering on things more up to date if you know what I mean. I've picked a few strains that he has worked with and that has worked well with him to try, just seeing what else I could pick up on. I definitely want to try the Cali Hash Plant outdoors as i've read that it was bred and performs well with hard nuggets in low light/shady conditions, IMO if this is true and if my pheno turns out to be one of the "golden" ones then i'll be more than happy to work with that strain.

Around here if you can get anything that performs well in shady areas you are a very lucky blessed individual because of stealth reasons. I'm sure KYGiacomo knows what I mean there. I've never flowered any cutting out yet because I want a huge mother with alot of branches, so I guess it will be a hit and miss. Its dinafems Cali Hash Plant, does anyone know how stable this strain is and how variable the phenos tend to be? I will also work with some bag seed that I tried a couple years ago and had great success with that is blueberry dominant I can tell by the smell, high and structure of the plant but i'm not sure what else is in it. It yields heavy, like almost a lb per plant and has an odd cactus type structure lol. Looks like a skeleton plant until it flowers and man they're everywhere from that point forward.

One of the best bag seed strains i've ever grew and could argue the most potent weed ive ever had was a short stocky plant with dark green fat dense colas that didnt have many hairs at all, just calyxes and leafy but tight and had the strangest smell i've ever smelt. I would describe it very acrid, like very stinky dirty socks, chicken shit but with very sweet undertones with a touch of earth. It was so sticky that it would hardly burn and it finished early mid september if I remember right. Does anyone know what strain this could be?? I've researched for years and would give anything to figure it out. It was very short and stocky, really bushy and dark green, no mold and very very stealthy. I'd give one of my nuts to have one to breed with and as a mother lol.

Also I tried aurora indica year before last with great results here. Early finisher and knock you on your ass high. I agree with what silver back said, I had wet rags on my head to when I over smoked her. But if anyone could help me pinpoint that strain I described previously that would be great!

Kygiacomo, if all goes well I plan on sprouting a few of those seeds from that same year, that im pretty sure is where that strain and pheno came from. IF however I happen to come across it I will definately get a few cuts from it and start breeding with it. Maybe I can figure out a way to get you the original cut since were not too far away from each other. Keep in touch brother!

I'm also beginning to wonder if its not a local bred strain around my parts, but isn't around anymore due to the guy passing away a few years back. But I was lucky enough to have a good relationship with the dealer he supplied here and this guy was known as a legend here. He grew more than anyone i've ever know and bred the best indica strains so i've heard, hes the one that brought the goods in these parts.
