Strains for anxiety and insomnia

I have pretty a severe anxiety disorder. It's been a battle for many years. I feel your pain...

The chemdog also made me uncomfortable and kicked my anxiety up.
I have a hard time with many sativas too. Anything too "up" or racy kicks my anxiety into high gear. I try to stay more on the indica side, although I've run across a few sativa leaning hybrids that have helped. Don't remember their names anymore though.

Anyway, strains I'd recommend are blueberry crosses (w/the indica leaning blueberry). I've had pretty decent luck with those for anxiety.
NL5xBlueberry was helpful for me. I'm not sure where the seeds came from, I think a friend of mine made them (this was years ago that I had this strain, it's long gone unfortunately).
Another was BubbleBerry (from sagarmatha). It was a very happy strain for me.
A certain pheno of Romulon was very helpful for my anxiety too.
Cotton Candy wasn't bad either. It was a freebie (from delicious I believe). It threw a few yellow bananas though, but I had a tiny light leak at the time, so I'd have to run it again to know for sure. From what I remember bubba kush was good for anxiety too, but it's been a while...

I've also smoked some purple strains that have helped my anxiety. I never had the pleasure of growing any though. The only one I ever tried was Deep Purple from TGA and it smelled like lemons and didnt help my anxiety at all. I only grew a 5 pack though.

I am still on the hunt for that perfect strain for my anxiety too. I'll let you know if/when I find it.

tell me about that romulan? I have had a particular phenol that fit the bill but nothing I have tried since holds a candle to it.

I agree with the bubbleberry also... very happy permagrin until smiling mucles begin to cramp up weed

Pineapple skunk from HSO is great for anxiety in my experience, better than pharmaceutical anxiety meds. It could be me, but both phenos I had were my perfect day smoke.

Unfortunately it wasn't my own grow of the Rom. I was only able to get a small batch from a buddy.
It's what I know as the classic old school romulon. Kind of a bit of a piney smell, hard to describe exactly.
This one particular batch was more dank than all the rest and it worked like a charm to take away my anxiety.

I tried my butt off to track down a cut from this guy, but I had no luck...

Yeah, the bubbleberry was definitely happy weed. I remember the first time I ever had it, I was getting ready to take a road trip and I set my giant book of CD's (easily 100 or more) on top of my car when I was loading it. I completely forgot they were up there and drove away. Not even 10 mins down the road I realized I had left them on top my car and went back to look for them but someone had already snagged them.
So, I was stuck on this long road trip with literally ONE cd to listen to - the one that was in my CD player at the time. Plus, back then they were all original CD's I had purchased (not burned CD's made at home), so I was out a huge chunk of money. Needless to say I was super pissed off...
Anyway, my partner at the time had given me a bag from the first harvest of BubbleBerry earlier in the day. So I packed a bowl to try and calm down. After 1/2 a bowl, I remember getting the biggest grin on my face and not giving two sh*ts about losing those CD's. And I happily sang along to the only CD I still owned (that I listened to on repeat half the trip)... lol.

would love to find yumboldt again. hope its not extinct

Ive heard from someone that they only poped a few fems and didn't find a keeper. So it may take a phenol hunt to find something keeper worthy. I sure hope that keeper phenol is still in them beans because she was special.

That said I guess its important that if you find her put some effort into preserving her because who knows what might be lost in the name of efficiency and "progress."

Put me down for another CBD vote.

I use the acdc clone. But there are many cbd options out there in seed. Cbd crew, CannaTonic from resin. Thunderstruck from sin city exc....

Iv been told by MANY peeps including afew women who don't smoke THC that the CBD is almost instant relif of anxiety! Total mental n physical stress melter.

Def potential sleep improvement and relaxation w 1:1 cbd:thc strains/phenos!
Esp indica dom cbd X's.

Iv been loving it n get literally nothing but posative feedback on the CBD samples.

Hope u can find what works for you.

Big ups respect and happy growing.

i suffer from disabling , crippleing anxiet /panic disorder w/ agoraphobia and im treatment resistant. xanax, clonopin ativan valium.. been on all the benzos.. most times 2 at once like xanax and kpin or ativan and valium. one fast acting and one slower but longer lasting..

strains i would reccomend without being able to get elites.. try peak seeds kushberry and their northern lights and blueberry. or try master kush , la confidential, connie young.. dna and reserva privada have some thumpers i was lucky enough to get cuts of..
if you find yourself in a position where u can get some elites (wink) go for sour bubble (thats in seed form too) bubba, tw (its a sativa but has almost narcotic effects)og kush and family, 2.0 , gsc forum and or thin mint, plat thin mint, loompas headband! (oddly it reminds me much more of og than diesel.) diamond og, larry og socal master, og la affie. purple urkle, purple kush, redwood kush. these help me tremendously. id be lying if i said top shelf cannabis meds isn't a type of cure all or panacea but they can only do so much. you have got to put the work in. thats what im doing now myself. radical re self expression... the loss of ego (think psychedelics) poetry, wrighting, growing cannabis and all my medicinal herbs, and there is alot out there!. so many good things for your brain out there. dont forget the omega 3's and 6's. use hempseed oil daily asa vitamin tonic. melatonin for sleepless nights (and benydryl, lol) and lots of top shelf flowers and shatter or 73u full melt! mmm my favorite.

key is to take up meditation (im a work in progress, mind you, we all are.) we should be pushing ourselves to self evolve or adapt to life. instead of cringing about it. be in the moment (im a buddhist , dreadlocked buddha, lol but a Bodhisattva all the same. been seeking nirvana and enlightenment since i was a little kid.

So glad you brought up Sour Bubble! I'm hoping that's the one for my anxiety :).. got about a month left on mine.. from seed. What pheno did you run?

Melatonin works well for sleep for me when I need to get to bed early.

Agree also on meditation. Tough to get into, but once you can it is amazingly calming.

@deadlong hang in there it will get better. rso is also great!bottom line , you have to be willing to work on yourself and take the time you need to get better. it will get easier and more manageable the more you practice mindfulness, cultivate positive thoughts to stop the panic spiral downwards ( stop that viscous cycle of the what if's? we cant control everything. that my friends is life and it sux but it makes people individuals and we are all glad we have a ceartain somebody or pet in your life. the more your brain thinks positively the easier the nourons will fire. basically we condition or mind to panic instead of the relaxation response. (thats a great book too... old as hell but just as relevant today than ever.

@ hang in there my friend. pm me if u need to talk about whatever. no judgement here. ill even break the ice. im in the process of trying to make new friends with kids now that i have a 9month old. we have a few close friends but the kids are older. im looking to chill with some super cool parents that share my business and lifes work (growing exceptional cannabis.)i focus on my son and my plants. its a full time job being a stay at home dad. damn im tired. been up since 3am! but its worth it. just to be blessed with him means so much (i know im biased but he is one of the most relaxed kids ever. super cute too) not to mention my wife grow buddies ("sugar shack collective") and i also run the lost coast patient sharing program, wedo deliveries to truly sick and disabled folks at no cost. we operate via word of mouth and thrive off donations. anything to meds to eguipment or time. every bit helps! yes. i give away free meds to those who need it, i can always put up a few more lights and expand. right now its 50 plants flowering at a time in coco 10k grow setup. 4k veg and mom room. i usually add a few into the room more if im trying out a clone... some of my patients are close to the end stages sometimes, its always sad to see them go, i really enjoy talking with older people (seniors) the old growers and family are who taught me everything. im an old school old soul

see, I think this is what is highly subjective about it all because I have smoked most of those elites besides sour bubble. I havn't tried peak seads either so I can't comment on those. But for me the raw potency strains sort of just get me blitzed and its not that pleasant. Sure, I could do a bunch of dabs for a few days and get my tolerance higher but I really think those strains have been bred for potency and bag appeal rather than nuance.

Although, I have tried strains in the 18-22%thc range that do work for me so it is not just a thc % percentage thing it is the whole shebang, and I think their is just a lot more genetic diversity and different types of highs in the cannabis genepool in the <20%thc range.

Like my ex would constantly smoke og kush and she knew I hated it. Then we got a deep chunk purple hybrid at around 20%thc and she thought I would find it too potent but it hit just right for me although I much prefer pure deep chunk.

Also, I have tried some cbd strains I thought were junk with a dirty boring high while others provided a ton of anxiety relief but were rather flat and didn't get me high. I have yet to try a cbd strain that provided anything close to the type of relief I have experienced with deep chunk and some other strains. So sure the potential is their in the strains that have cbd but I think it will take more than just cbd in the buds or a 1:1 ratio.

I get what your saying. N it's not that strange. We really do all have different reactions to dif cannaboids. Dif strokes(strains) for dif folks. I think it is Sam Skunkman who openly dislikes the affect of cbd.
Quote"I personally do not like high CBD or THCV varieties, for me all they do is screw up the effects of THC, both in that variety and I find that CBD and THCV also screw up the effects of high THC varieties smoked the same day, not what I want at all. "Sam Skunkman

But in my experience it seems to help out many dif folks. So I urge you to continue to tryout the dif samples you come across.

You may just hav a very discerning palate. My deep chunk has a noticeably mellowing reaction. That's for sure!

^AcDc x Deep Chunk^

Deep chunk for the win!

Biggest thanks to Tom hill for his years of dedication.
He preserved pure medicine for the ages.

Big ups respect and happy growing.

You HAVE to keep your mind occupied ( I took up drawing, painting, and woodworking)

I've found that smoking alone only gets the door open. Go ahead and walk through that bad boy and start living.

I personally deal with anxiety, ptsd, etc and some strains that stand out to me are :

Goji OG ( felt like I shifted down a gear and could actually breathe. High as georgia pine, but very functional. )

Strawberry Cough ( a real hit with my wife, I personally like it for when I can't get gooned. Very clear high, but not quite strong enough to be my go to)

PCK is really balanced without being overwhelming or knocking you out.

Heusinomics,

I personally like the effects of cbd... actually I love it. Thing is, I am just not sure that we have seen the full potential of cbd in cannabis strains yet. A deep chunk cbd strain hybrid sounds fing amazing though! I havn't tried the acdc yet but as soon as I heard about that strain I imagined it as a cross to deep chunk as something with some anxiety relief grail potential. For me deep chunk and harlequin are just about the only strains I can think of I can smoke and fall asleep on, everything else keeps me awake.

I suffer from severe insomnia as well. I had good luck with Bog's sour lifesaver the purple pheno. He's easy to deal with and I had a hassle free grow. Couple of bowls before bed and lights out!

Anxiety, trouble breathing, accelerated heart rate, weird feeling

Anxiety, trouble breathing, accelerated heart rate, weird feeling

I have had some crazy anxiety when smoking sometimes. Head ache, trouble breathing, anxious, irritated, almost like i drank too much coffee or caffeine, and crazy insomnia. Over the years I have found that it was because of mostly clear, and some cloudy trichs. A lot of dealers will cut too early to get the product out. Let your stuff go well into 20% amber trichs and it will take care of it. Too much THC without anything to balance it will make your mind go koo koo!
