Strain ID help? "Chemdawg family" possibly D

Got this from a clone shop in Seattle that is no longer operational, was sold as Chemdawg '91.

Well I grew it, posted pics here on icmag, with a couple of replies saying, "that ain't no chem91" and such.

Well I've been looking around a lot at many different grows and breeder/seed pictures of the various Chemdawg originated strains, and my research pointed me toward the CaliConnection Chem 4. You see the pictures they have up on their site look almost identical to mine.

I've noticed an almost blue hue to the leaves if that's any help, and they seem to be narrower blades than most chems I've seen, besides the cali bx.

So then I see a Chem 4 vs. D comparison thread and my head spins. They look identical lol. And both like mine! But one major difference between the two:

Weaker stems that require staking on the D, 4 holds her self up.

Those pics are from day 37 of flower. Grown under LED. Organic ferts in coco.

The smell is outright offensive. Almost ammonialike. Or garlic. Or something putrid. Definitely not as diesely or piney as it is just plain, yowza!

Is this the Chem "funk" every talks about?

I'll keep posting photos throughout flowering cycle until we can get a definitive answer.

Anyone grown multiple Chem cuts? Apoth Chem? Cali chems??

Your input is greatly appreciated. :)

Well, that's about all I can come up with as far as detective work. Hope it helps narrow things down.

:) now for firsthand account

Thanks in advance!

No cuts or verified seeds, but from reading descriptions on smells and stuff & seeing other people's pics I think my indica dominant hybrid is from Chemdawg bagseed. It just smells funky, at one point like baby poop, and is super frosty. I'm almost certain it has some type of Chemdawg in it just not sure which one and or what it could be crossed with or if it's an S1...

I was hoping it was BOG's LSD but I still have all those seeds...

i think Crazy Composer described the smell of the Chem D cut better than anyone ... im paraphrasing for sure but something about mouth infection / halitosis ... in the dankest way possible . Definately offensive smells . yet tastes delicious when well grown . Quite a different odor from any diesel or OG or legit Chem91 . imo . Also grows much less tall and lanky than the original Chem91 with more branching . As a longtime grower of Chem strains including the D ... I find the flavors and nose from 91Chem aswell as most OG's ive tried to b more appealing / less offensive .I have no experience with Chem 4 however .

I also tend to agree that the D is indeed a hybrid Chem and not the sibling it was claimed to be . G lost the 91 cut more than once and had seed game aspirations ..so calling it a sibling rather than a hybrid would appear to be superior pedigree thus potentially create more demand if he had ever actually released seeds .

Not to take anything away from her .. Chem D is an excellent cut ... i just got her back & im not letting her go anytime soon .

And look at all the stellar work TopDawg has done with her in tres dawg and Stardawg .. epic plants in them beans for sure .

so who cares every strain in the world is a hybrid somewhere down the line .There was no need to lie is my point ...i guess .

and dont forget about Chem sister .. has been mistaken / mixed up with D by many growers . I kno lots of strain have variegation but thats one thing i would take into consideration .. if its a D .. certainly you will atleast sometimes observe the leaf variegation thing that people used to think was tmv ... but taking healthy clones from non variegated branches can minimize it , tho it doesnt seem to be detrimental anyway . Mature flowers pics will also be very helpful in narrowing down the suspects . if you have any questions feel free:tiphat:

i will keep up on the maturation. expect a shot or two every five days or so... in the last weeks ill probably be saying "they grow so much every day" and post like a madman... or maybe not lol

Got some sour diesel in portland over the weekend, and the flavour was really similar to my Chem, and since I'm on this reservoir kick at the moment, I'd like to throw that one in there too. Anyone familiar with the rez cdsd crosses?

Grab some ChemD flowers and call ahead for clones at HomeGrown Apothecary in Portland , Oregon . the cut came from myself and was given to me by G himself 10 years ago .. if you so desire to have it verified . Unfortunately I am no longer working for Homegrown and moved back to my original home in western mass . So I won't be able to sample your produce next time you travel south to Oregon ... tho I do appreciate the thought .:tiphat:

It's probably cali deadhead x 91

But them deep purple stems are somthin I aint seen in any Chem ibl/bx pics.

I think I'm gonna refer to this cut as "chem-ish"

And everyone on this forum will be witness to my intent to figure outthe truestrain, and give credit where itsdue. I guess this one is "mine" lol

"Chem-ish" today you are born lol
