Starting seeds in potting mix, Bad idea?

I've got my seeds germinating was wondering if it's safe to put them into potting mixture, I'm sure it is but will it burn? I do have coco but i'd rather stick to potting mix(just potting mix and perlite atm) I've got my main soil mix all blended up at the moment just got to wait 2 weeks before I transplant them.

Pro Mix enhanced with Seasol <-- Is the potting mix on the site I am using.

Dunno mate, the seasol wont hurt the seedlings, but im not too sure about the slow release and trace elements. For sure it is an awesome potting mixture to use for seedlings, but im not sure about planting seeds straight into it. Maybe start off with just the coco mix, or there are cool seed raising mixes out there too.
Good luck with the grow dude! Good to see a fellow west aussie on the boards. :rasta:

Thanks Choice, Yeah I do not wish to burn my AK47. Hmmm I'll have to think about it and look into it more.

I've seen seedlings that are very happy in straight Forxfarm Ocean Forest. I wouldn't suggest it with a nute sensitive plant, but I think in general cannabis can handle more than a lot of people give it credit for.

Very true Spaceman, better to be safe than sorry though. Ive never grown AK47, so cant say whether it likes lots of nutes or not unfortunately..
But granted, al the cannabis plants ive grown have responded well to high nutrient levels, just not in early stages. May be my luck though... hehe
Peace out all

I start all my crosses in 1/2 per and 1/2 reg. Expert soil (walmart) it has slow release ferts but since I cut it in half I tend not to see any nute burn...any that are sensitive are chucked :muahaha:

unless I paid alot for them then I try and save it.. :joint:

I even clone in reg soil

then again maybe it's because I'm cheap... :nono:

You can clone in anything as long as the medium is very porous and will dry out faster than a regular mix.
I like using 1/3 castings, 1/3 Promix, 1/3 perlite.
I've clones in peat pucks which is really the same thing as using a small container of soil.
The mistake peeps often make is to use too big a cup or pot when cloning with Promix or similar, use a container that is no bigger than say the bottom 1/2 of a beer cup or the equivalent of a Dixie style cup.

Though I've never had personal experience with AK, I've seen it grown, and I'm pretty sure it's not a particularly light feeder... I wouldn't worry too much.
