Get a 30X eye loupe, or one of them little radio shack microscopes. Look at the trics...clear with some cloudy=more of an up high. Cloudy= 50/50 head/body high. Amber=Couch Lock stone. It's up to you when to harvest by considering what type of high you are looking for. Is it for medical purposes? Spiritual/Recreational? Hash making? It all depends on what you want.

Peace

check the hairs

check the hairs

check the hairs to get a wider harvest window estimate. when almost all of the hairs are amber/red, and just a few have started to recede (dehydrate and shrink a bit) is a good time. also, see if you can make a multi part harvest. the top buds may be done, but you might be able to leave the bottom buds in longer. just get em closer to the light. good luck.

whats up deefirl, i am at about the same point as you. I started flushing around five days ago with straight distilled water. I am starting to see my plants turn a tinge yellow (too be expected) from a N deficiency.

I am happy with this because I want a real lime green, tasty bud. I feel like the fact I'm using good water to flush with rather than tap water will help a tiny amount too (could just be a waste of money).

You can check out my gallery or other post to see what I mean. The newer set of pics is the start of flushing. I should have an update today too.

Deefirl instead of thinking along the line of flushing the soil, its best to decrease ferts until there are basically none left in the soil.Soil grows dont need to be flushed IMO,decreasing ferts towards the end of flowering lessens the chances of the plant going into "nute shock" and yellowing excessively towards the end of flower.I'll decrease feed towrds the end using plain water the last couple times but not really trying to flush anything from the soil.

if they are still very clear let them grow for another week and check the trics again. Might still take 2-3 weeks to fully finish.

they will even get a little bigger for you if you wait awhile yet. Maybe give them another good feeding with your flower nutes before flushing.

i dont think you all are clear on what is meant by flushing at the end of flower. you dont literally flush the soil by adding obscene amounts of water and letting it run through. you just stop using ferts towards the end and water with plain water till you harvest.

DEEFIRL: the only real way to tell is the trichs. I had hairs on a Kill Bill stay WHITE, and the stone was so potent it put you on your ASS. Hairs are not as good an indicator.

stihgnobevoli:

I think "flushing" in a traditional growing sense is just that, flushing it with 2x (or more?) the amount of water than soil medium. You're washing out excess salts. You do indeed literally flush with obscene amounts of water. Depends on your growing style and what ferts you use.

This is how I learned anyway. Organic guys don't really do this. Everyone else should.

If you're just PLAIN WATERING, wouldn't you call it that? Not "flushing"?

you guys are both confused. Flushing involves a certain excess amount of water flushing the pot, along with plain water and no ferts till the end of the plants life

I'm not confused at all. Didn't have the proper wording at the time.

I agree with your statement however, it's been beat to death on these forums. I prefer a nice leaching a couple weeks out, and plain water until she's done, as you described.

..when you run 4 gallons of water over a 2 gallon pot it feels pretty obscene...

Back on subject...when you finally decide it's time to harvest...how about letting them sit in total darkness for three straight days. This is supposed to really aggrivate the plants into producing the copious ammount of resin we are all after. You know...stress the hell out of them the last days to get them bitches to put out as much as possible :D

Get two flowering plants similar in size and maturity and run obscene amounts of water through one,on the other fert normally until maybe 10 days from harvest, then use plain water. If the plant that was "flushed out" looks better than the one where ferts where gradually withdrawn,I'll eat my hat.I've done it both ways and learned years ago flushing with excess water causes more harm than good unless you use miracle grow or some other kinda crap.Fox farm,PBP users definately need not "flush" their soil.

Ok man...he gets it! The title of the thread has the word "Flush" in it. He's not asking for your debates about how to flush. Offer some suggestions, tips, tricks...something besides your assinine arguments! Hey I know...how about some curing/drying tips? But I suppose that would turn into a debate as well huh?
