It looks like you have a flicker there @Jenn . . .

A house finch today . . .

I get the Flicker to stop in once in a while, but that was just a red-bellied woodpecker. I have seven or eight of them in that tree daily. The Flicker is a fun one though.

Edit - I spotted a goldfinch in the yard today but by the time I got the camera it took off. Those are some pretty birds.

Morning folks

I went to bed at 10 woke up at 12:30 stayed up until 3 fell back asleep, woke up at 5 fell back asleep, woke up at 6 and stayed up. That is how I have been sleeping for a long time now. I have a very hard time sleeping.

I used to take melatonin and it helped some, but I discovered a nasty side effect

When I would get behind the wheel I would feel like I was in a trance, everytime. Scary, I actually went to the doctor because it scared the shit out of me. I thought I had something serious going on. Doctor told me inner ear, blah blah blah whatever. So due to the crazy nightmares I would have from the melatonin I decided I was going to stop taking it. Within a few days of stoping the melatonin the trance like state while driving went away. I said well shit.

The tomatoes I transplanted have grown well. I'm surprised because they normally sit there after transplant. I figured out that transplanting when very young helps eliminate transplant shock. Where I have them is mid 50's, also doesn't help.

Well they did not miss a beat and have grown a solid inch or more since Friday. Might have nailed it for once lol

Mine (from Humbolt) grew very symmetrical and uniform as well. 8 plants, and you would think they were from clones, very little distinction start to finish. Had the seeds for maybe a year.

I just realized that I am probably the only idiot awake right now, carry on
What I have noticed…plants grown from seeds leaves and branches are directly across from one another…when the next set of leaves and branches develop they are again directly across from each other at 90 degrees…where as a clone the branches are not exactly across from one another…each leaf or branch comes of the stem on each side a little bit above the opposing leaf or branch….if that makes sense

So did you start any tomatoes like the Black Krim…wasn’t it the Cherokee Purple that you like…askin for a friend

I grow BKX which is a sport of Black Krim. Far superior in my opinion. Black Krim would either flower fast or take forever, have all different size tomatoes. Was a general pain in the arse on my ground. Cherokee Purple did much better. Not growing Cherokee Purple this season. Just BKX about 6 plants. Several other blacks as well of more rare seeds and needing a seed increase.

As soon as it warms up and the cold polar winds give us a break, I intend to hang a suet basket.
I don't know what your property is like, but you have to kind of be careful how you hang the cakes because the raccoons love them. I used to just hang them by a chain and I actually watched the raccoon pull the chain up open the basket and take the cake.

Now I have hangers, hangers and chains, whatever it takes. And everyone of the baskets has a hitchpin on it to lock it shut.

Hostas are finally breaking ground. Things seem behind this year.
