Hey Big

No, well yes. I screwed up and planted a big chunk of coco into soil and they aren't getting along. I never grew in coco before so it was my fault. Just a set back.
Working with a new soil medium is generally a work in progress until all the wrinkles are ironed out. My present crop is an example of that. Takes time to get things right. At least when you know there might be issues you can be watching for the first signs of problems and get on them quick, hopefully.

...and that's how you end up without a local grow shop!;)
I wish I had a local grow shop fish. My closest, which I just checked is 19.7 miles from my house, one way. I have a couple nurseries near me, but they go crazy on the prices. They are more interested in selling trees and plants not supplies.

There was a grow shop once in my area and it didn't even make it a year. Honestly I don't think there is a big enough demand in my area. They shot down the dispensary proposal for my town also. Weed is legal in Michigan, but it's not wanted everywhere.

So I use Amazon. I do stop at the grow shop I mentioned earlier when I have to go to Ann Arbor because it is on the way.

Good for you that you are so diligent about walking, doober. (y) Even in my current feeble state, I walk at least a kilometre every day and usually 2 - 3. The dog keeps me moving.

Speaking of the dog, he must have eaten something bad because he was puking the night before last - all around the house - and he wouldn't eat. Today he is back to normal.

This morning's stand off . . .

We never lost power, which was nice for once. Windy and cold 35 degrees. Skipped the morning walk. The doggo wasn't interested once he felt the temps and wind.

There is only one grow shop around here and the prices are exactly double of what online cost. Quart of Botanicare is 44.95. now I support brick and mortar stores but I'm not paying double. Guy.wanted 26.95 for a strip of rockwool 1.5" cubes. I got them on the interwebs for 3.95 w/ ship, plus the guy is a blazing idiot which doesn't help me wanting to go there.

The two good hydro stores that had been around since the 90's switched to online sales only. Suppliers need to make it so b&m stores can compete with online prices and still profit if there is a chance of survival.

Plus the cops still sit in the hydro store parking lots taking notes.

Enjoy your walk Doober!

Friend of mine owned a grow shop oh about 15-17 years ago. He hired kids who knew squat about growing or the laws, considering it was still more illegal.

He begged me to work part time to show the customers it was a knowledgeable store. We built it up very well and the money was flowing. Then the owner started with the heavy drugs, accused me of stealing (which he later apologized after I showed him the cam footage of HIM loading his truck and forgetting he did it) and giving bad advice (which he also did in a drug cloud, some guy killed his whole crop on owners advice doh).

He lasted a year maybe. It would have been wildly successful if it weren't for the drugged up owner. We were selling to many big growers, earning respect and even hosting hydroponics classes for the local school kids. We would price match and eventually had all knowledgeable staff. A pity really.

He now owns a liquor store chain which suits him better, always drunk.

I've considered opening a nursery/garden store but I just don't know if I want more work. Getting old ffs.

I'm of a similar mindset to yourself, the majority of growshops here are greedy basturds, I absolutely have no other choice than to order most of my supplies online, than to agree with their extortionating figures..
Unfortunately, items like bags of coco I prefer to collect myself for obvious reasons, but the majority of purchases are done online. The Adidas tracksuit / Nike Air max runners sales assistants would sell sand to the Arabs, always looking to of load the newest product for the next customer, (usually 10 bottles of this and 10 bottles of that) you have to laugh at there sales pitch. I'm in Europe as well and cannabis is illegal, so I just have to put up with their bullshit when I drop in, it does seem the majority of them attended the same crash course in horticulture..

UNC is perfect for a grow shop. He is a stickler for details and has the standards a lot of the younger generation doesn't have. In evidence by the kids who worked the shop before him. Pretty sure Unc and I are close in age and have the same work mentality which is definitely missing these days. Now if he would just buy the shop or open his own...
