I finally have some tomatoes up. The seed was so old I was nervous but looks like things are pushing up through the soil. I like to keep the trays in the glass porch but it has been 27 so far today. Only 40 or so on porch until the sun hits the glass. I'm going to be battling leggy -ness.
Watering is done and another round of coffee is in order. The Rich button on the coffee pot is akin to N0S I figure lol
A few more chores then I'm done for the day and time for some racing on TV. I have all the NASCAR series, Indycar, and F1 set to record automatically so when Sunday afternoon comes around I have a lot of racing to select from. The NASCAR Truck series race was awesome.
I was going to make a batch of beer today but wifey has other kitchen plans and I don't feel like spending the time outside in the cold currently. Maybe tomorrow. I need to make a 10 gallon batch, which yields 4 cases. Perfect lagering weather I need to take advantage of.

Good day, I am just so eager to get outside but this old body does not like cool weather. I'm hoping everyday for warmer weather. Spring seems to get slower coming. I need it to be at least 18C/65F to get outside. We are not there yet.

Good thing with tomatoes is they don't mind a deep planting. I don't know if that's true with all tomatoes.

I usually start staking when they start flopping. Often a week after I really should. I had already started removing twist ties when I took the pics. I usually push them all the way in.
So, if you only had 2-3 weeks left would you still put new stakes in?
I'll add and adjust stakes right up until the end if prevents a branch from breaking or laying. Somewhere stupid such as on another cola or plants.
Ever since I have not been able to count on growing as a reliable income I have acquired a job. And the amount of effort that I put into pruning, tying, staking, trimming and giving a fuck has gone way down. Putting my effort into having a fun variety and not giving a fuck.
I use a round metal file, the size of a bamboo stake and about 12" long, and plunge holes into the soil for aeration right up until harvest without ill effects.
If you are worried about damaging roots yoyo's work great. I use them on flood and drain tables.

This day just moved right along. Jumping into a new container of honey garlic to help fight off those human gnats.
New reading material from the local library, that place was a zoo today.
Made a quick stop at the farm store (putting more peeps out) and stopped at the local nursery to check on some grow supplies but their prices are so jacked up I'm going to have to take a short drive tomorrow to the real grow shop.
Groceries on the weekend sucks, don't know what I was thinking. Listening to kids scream drives me crazy. What's worse is that parent that pretends nothing is happening. It's a different world, my mom or dad would have hit me so fast I would have seen stars.
And my sister is still my sister. We chatted for a quick minute and I was on my way.
