nice …a man of my own heart.. My analog equipment is gathering dust for decades
lol… I went from vinyl LP to cassettes to digital audio tapes to cd to DVD. Then to storage on, hard drives..Now I just stream ..my how the world has changed.
I checked our weather forecast and in a couple of days it changes to above freezing during the day. It will only be a degree or two below at night. Three more nights of cold. I welcome the change.

My neighbor received a phone call around christmas, thinking it was her son. He asked if he could borrow a few thousand dollars for an emergency. Mom agreed and sent the money out. It turned out it was not her son at all but who ever made the call was able to use her sons voice. She reported it to the police but there was nothing to be done. How they were able to use her sons voice is a mystery to me,I looked it up on the net and it happens, scammers can use AI to clone some ones voice.

The diabolical part of what happened to my own parents was that whoever the perpetrator was somehow got the knowledge that they had a grandson and then try to impersonate him… talk about praying on the elderly? This is why I hate people (One of the many reasons)
I myself almost fell for a scam fuckers calling up claiming to be from the IRS that I somehow filed a bad tax return in the past and was responsible. If I didn’t pay immediately, I would be up shits creek… Other popular scams are firemen and policeman, benevolent funds, asking for donations
Me too and cassettes can be cheap at the flea market.
Nobody does ANYTHING about this. My landline rings off the hook all day. I don't even answer it anymore. It's gotten so bad the caller id actually says "probably scam" but the phone companies and cops don't care.

This your sons in jail and needs bail scam was started in Japan I believe, there is a series about it on Netflix called (funnily enough) “Scams”. It has English dub.
I’ve had them call me here and try to pull it on me..... as soon as I start speaking in English they hang up lol
