...The guy was looking at my account and said you still have a landline. I said yup (have an iphone also) and he said well if you use it don't get rid of it becuase you can no longer get landlines.....
It's all you can get where I live in bumfukk, upstate NY where we have no cell phone service on my hill and the phone and internet fail 3-300 times per week because the phone cables and poles are not maintained and the repair people claim that the cables are all chewed up by squirrels and fill with water in the low spots and short the wires.

I've been to many tiny 3rd world countries and islands that have cell service AND wifi everywhere but not NY.

I have always thought the state of NY was pretty nice looking, but somehow I think you manage to get even worse winters than we do in Michigan (lower part anyway) so who knows. I do like the thought of one day being in no mans land though.

My landline might go a few weeks without me using it but it's nice to know it's there.
When calling 911 for a medical emergency, the phone better be working. Those times can be very stressful and having a phone that is not operational would be terrible.
Doesn't it just burn your butt when you know the phone company is giving you the run around.

Too bad you can't put a commercial blocker on your TV.
i no longer have cable, but there are two companies that advertise on the radio here that are on in EVERY commercial break. i despise them wholeheartedly...
I've been known to blow things up,
used to buy a gross of M-80s and cut them open & fill other (larger) things with the powder myself. one of those things goes off and you can hear sirens instantly, lol... i sold my last muzzleloader so i would no longer have a legitimate reason to buy black powder... reduces temptation.

I use to work at a flour mill historic site, sometimes I would do small demonstrations to show the explosive nature of flour dust. That was a fun explosion.
A few years back the people of our community heard 2 powerful explosions part way up the mountain. I seen the dust in the air after the explosions. The police had several phone calls about it but nothing was ever said.
I'm still curious what that was about.
I use to live on a beef ranch, it was an old ranch with a long history. There was an old small log cabin that was original to the ranch and at one time they stored dynamite in it, it was used for taking out stumps. Some of it sat there so long that it began to sweat and become unstable. I was surprised to see the military show up and explode the dynamite in the field.
