That’s what I’m saying the best thing to do is make your own seeds, but that involves time space and effort that people can’t do that or afford to

it really depends on what you work with. if you get og kush cut and buy some, let say, tres dawg seeeds, it will not be brainer to make some outstanding chemkush for yourself. but if you work with some long flowering stuff or landraces, you need more than time and space. you need knowledge, you can read some theory, but real knowledge you will get through making fails.. it is quite long journey.

I know a lot of great growers, which lack real nose. I will give you example, I cooperated with one great grower on selections from seed. we bought seeds together and he was supposed to make cuts for me. he did and gave me 8 cuts, and of course I asked which one is keeper. he said number 7. I grew it out and found out, it is not true. number 7 was really strong, but it lacks in other departments. and this guy knows how real keeper looks like as he was growing ecsd or chemD etc. but really he was not able to say which one is real keeper, I know it is subjective, but I chose number 4, this cut is around for like 6 years now. it is proved keeper, doing great in many gardens. many love it, but he would select it out. nobody cares about number 7, it was bland. this happens to me with more great growers. if you are great grower, it doesn't mean you have ability to breed, which means to select right parents. it is not only about potency, it is more complex problem to get stellar product. now to select right male, it is much more difficult..

I failed so many times with males. like with my mextasy, I used two males of oaxacan, one tall, not much resin and low yielding and one medium sized with nice chunky flowers and the most resinous from the batch of males. wish I used only tall one.. as medium one brought intersexual issues, and mediocre plants.. now I have to go through mediocre plants to find progeny of that tall one, this progeny is stellar. it was BIG MISTAKE :D to use that medium sized one hehe. without it I would have fire oaxacan cross and just grow few plants to get the fire..

kinda changes your perspective once you start harvesting your own seed. 1 mediocre plant can produce hundreds.

We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again, no, no
I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?
Yeah
There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again, no, no
Yeah
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

i like hearing this breeding talk, if im chucking pollen i might as well work on selection skills. easier than pollinating everything and then testing forever...

That is so true MAHA, I have worked with people who select the biggest yielders, the fastest flowers, etc. Not one selects for all of that, or considered the nose to be important. The results showed.

I think being honest with your failures is one of the most important things a breeder can do. Out of all my chucks only a few have resulted in something worth pursuing.

How many seeds? Or how many generations should someone go into a cross before changing direction toward a more rewarding project?

"Perro viejo" / "Old dog"

Perro viejo:
Hola amigo,
¿Que haces por aquí?
¿vienes de muy lejos?
¿estás sucio o es que eres así?
sólo huesos y pellejos
tengo un trato para ti:
yo te doy comida y techo...
...si me enseñas a vivir
como vive un perro viejo...

Old dog:
Hello friend,
What do you do around here?
Are you coming from far away?
Are you dirty or are you like that?
just bones and skins;
I have a deal for you:
I give you food and shelter...
...if you teach me how to live
how an old dog lives...

...como el Son...
...n' I really love this one, friend star crash...:

"Oro santo" / "Holy gold"

...desesperado...

In the twilight
Of this divine and dark night
About the tundra
That my soul is always awake
A lament is heard as a prelude to the dead hours
Hours spent in the agony of a slow death
Silence returns to dress me in gold my saint
The memory of my grandmothers returns to make me strong in the wait
The records that taught me to love music are back
My father returned after twenty years...

...Alas if you were to return...

...If you were to return I would dress you in gold, my saint
I would shut things up so that you could hear my desperate singing
If you were to return I would dress you in gold, my saint
I would shut things up so you could hear my desperate singing
If you were to return I would dress you in gold, my saint
I would shut things up so you could hear my desperate singing
If you were to return I would dress you in gold, my saint
Let the world stop so that you can hear my song...
...desperate...

Not trying to take anything from anybody but better lucky than good.

Like Maha Kala said, if you start with good you will get good.
If you do some selective breeding then it should get better.
I did a few that came out killer and will keep them going.
That doesn't make me a 'breeder' and I don't really want to be a 'chucker'.
Just someone with a greenhouse that likes growing weeds.
