The SE is hazey as fuch.

Your dirt looks like loamy red clay and I don't see real rocks. Lucky you.

Just a point to the Smithsonian article: The Hawaiian Islands appear on Spanish exploration maps (and on those of eminent geographers/cosmographers of other nationalities who had access to privileged information about the Spanish expeditions and who consulted them for their own works) for more than 2 centuries before Cook's arrival. The archipelago was called by the Spanish "Islas de los Bolcanes"; Hawaii Island as "La Mesa Island" and/or "La Farfana Island", "La Desgraciada Island" to refer to Maui Island, "Ulloa Island" to Kahoolawe Island, and "Los Monges Islands" to those of Lanai and Molokai.
For example, we see it in the famous map Maris Pacifi in 1588 (or even earlier in Mercator's Nova et Aucta Orbis Terrae dated 1569) by Ortellius:

Several Pacific lands that Anglo-Saxon historiography traditionally declares to have never been known in the Old World until Cook, were, 4 or 5 generations before Cook's... I think it is also the case of Australia: centuries before it had been sighted, visited and even mapped by the Portuguese and/or Spanish and/or Dutch.

Weren't you once the semi-official video guy of the Dead? Or am I thinking of someone else? If so, man, that's like low level celebrity, and you'd be even more of a star there than here lol

There was an odd quality to the day, almost like an eclipse

Heard your air quality in NY is brutal. I've been hacking up nasty shit for 2 weeks out here in the Midwest after the fires started

You are thinking of me long time ago I had a musical relationship with the former Grateful Dead vault keeper… but it wasn’t video it was all audio.. we were both archivists… it lead to me for digital editing work on Master recordings to help out with one of the special releases it was 11/8/69 Dick Latvala’s favorite 🤩 Grateful Dead show (One of mine as well)

The air quality with all the smoke made for fascinating atmospheric conditions yesterday in my area it was a dim light out that reminded me of a daytime solar eclipse

One of the things I definitely want to do when it’s time is to travel it’s been decades because I’ve been mired in all sorts of things but I watch YouTube constantly and that’s my outlet for traveling to far away places I would love to go to Mexico first..Then farther down South America and then Europe

I did a whole lot of k over the last few years or so. I would have to check the calendar but it's been right around the end of January (I think) since I did any. Definitely would have a few times if it had been available. Probably even more if it was available the next day. Part of me is definitely relieved my connect moved out of town. What is a trip us that even without doing any for around 5 months a huge portion of my imagination and thoughts exist in the k realm. Kinda like after you so something enough it becomes second nature. Not sure if it's a good or bad thing. I certainly keeps pondering the true nature of reality more hours of the day than I ever had before.

It has also made achieving visionary experiences on small amounts of mushrooms or L easier than before. My brain has knocked down a few barriers apparently. I only ate 1 hit at the les Claypool show this weekend and hit my buddy's dmt pen a few time. One small puff off that pen while tripping just a little put me in a really nice spot for around 10 minutes. Way more cartoony/Lego like visuals and nowhere near a full blast off.

I’ve learned to pace myself or else I would be doing it every single day nonstop it’s so disruptive I have to withhold or else I won’t get anything accomplished

I think the better plan of action this morning is to actually do the sodbusting first before I bust out the auger so all the holes will be where I want them to be the lids will be removed so to speak then when I do the planting I think I will get it all in at once per hole if that makes any sense ..bear in mind this is a diary and I’m primarily talking to myself:cool:
