To me the number is between 5 and 9 plants under 1k is the easiest to surpass a gram a watt and they end up being big plants.
I’m the first to admit that my yields do not equal the amount of watts that it takes to produce… I think the main issue that holds me back is the watering… getting it in and then getting it out in an efficient manner….

Most of the time I end up with 4 plants per light. But I don't have a set rule. I own several size pots and just try to keep a full canopy. Sometimes I stuff some smaller plants in because I know i want a payday in a few months and that is what I have ready to flower.

This is about 4 per light. 14 plants in a 4.5X12 bed.
It reminds me of a Roman phalanx.

You need big enough moms to have a bunch of clones. Any strain with decent size colas wotks good. With og I would wait until they were about 8 to 10 inches tall and put them into flower. Used to be called sea of green technique. Was popular before medical and plant counts became a thing.
I toss mine in when they are about 2 feet tall from the pot. 8-12 branches with 8-12 fans on each branch. Remove all the growth tips except the ones at the top of the branch. So 8-12 branches with 8-12 fans feeding the top bud that is in the light.

I’m real fussy with my containers that I choose for watering I have several containers each one is the perfect amount for the perfect application and I tend to lose them every time I use them (so that sends me to a shit fit…lol)

I have 4 beds and each one is getting 8-14 gallons. I am using around 40 gallons a day right now. I expect that to go up though.
