In my part of Western North Carolina, there's a town that has an inbred population of white squirrels:never see black squirrels here in Central New York ..where I grew up in North Stamford Connecticut there was a substantial population in minority of the black squirrels but I have to tell you the black squirrels & the gray squirrels did not get along W/ each other’s space.

Here in south central BC I have only seen the red squirrel. For a few years I didn't see any squirrels in my neighborhood. The people who trapped them have moved away and this past year I seen a couple of red squirrels, the first in 4-5 years.never see black squirrels here in Central New York ..where I grew up in North Stamford Connecticut there was a substantial population in minority of the black squirrels but I have to tell you the black squirrels & the gray squirrels did not get along W/ each other’s space
Nah lol...it's just hard to judge the size of them with nothing for reference.. I remember you once had a short video of picking one up out of the tank a little and I was like wow them are much bigger than I thought... And that was quite a while ago...They’re not good eating if you’re getting any ideas
not a goatHave encouraged both gray and black squirrels to make their homes nearby. The reds are not allowed on the feeders. Always wondered the blood line of these blacks. I figure they have more gray than red genes contributing to the color.
Maybe Fishy can chime in. He seems to know a bit about these things.

My neighbor is always eating those things. I wont do it, it's like a rat with a fuzzy tail. He eats their brains too.Should anybody dare, I have a crock pot squirrel recipe that is exceptional. No, it doesn't taste like chicken. Bit darker meat than rabbit.
Ask Fishy, I think he could shed some light on this subject. Just prodding the goat.
Look I have to ask ......why?My neighbor is always eating those things. I wont do it, it's like a rat with a fuzzy tail. He eats their brains too.![]()
Apparently they are picky about where they live. We have tons of red squirrels here. About 40 minutes away the black squirrels are all over and everywhere north. It's been that way as long as I remember.never see black squirrels here in Central New York ..where I grew up in North Stamford Connecticut there was a substantial population in minority of the black squirrels but I have to tell you the black squirrels & the gray squirrels did not get along W/ each other’s space
Glad you posted here ...I’ll be 64 in a couple months if that makes you feel more welcome
Well, he and his family were originally from the Appalachia of West Virginia and it's just kind of the way it was. He moved on, went to college, became in actor in NY and then moved to Michigan and became a teacher. Guy is smart as a whip, but he still loves squirrel. One of his top three favorite foods he always tells me.Look I have to ask ......why?
Is he poor or is it cultural?
In the immortal words of Jules from Pulp Fiction, "...sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie but I'll never know because I would never eat the filthy motherfucker... "My neighbor is always eating those things. I wont do it, it's like a rat with a fuzzy tail. He eats their brains too.![]()
