Lowe's has the Lasko pivoting utility blower fan (model 4914) still online, it's worth checkin to see if your local lowe's has it in stock still, as they have it at $24.99 and from what i can tell, this looks exactly like the higher powered Stanley blower fan (model 4900) ... same fan speed ratings as the Stanley as well but for 1/2 the price
Almost time to flower and I think I'm gonna pick up a dr120. I shouldn't run into any problems keeping tent cool should I? I'm going to be using a batwing reflector until the next grow when I'll grab a nice air cooled hood
wow! I have read this whole thread and it is wonderful. Actully took me a couple of days to get through it all! Just thought I would give props for the continuity and stick with it-ness to keep this LONG thread current, with all those posts over 2 + years. I will be adding this to my list of things to recommend to new growers on our site, greenpassion.org
You have indeed done a terrific service to many people by posting this info. Many growers are med patiants on restricted incomes and to have a solution that can offer them a good outcome for less money means these people can actually EAT better as many use their food money for equipment.
BIG props to everyone involved in this thread.
Would you at all mind if I post a link to this wonderful post on our site?
Please feel free to come and take a look at anytime.
Peace to all, for a better world, lets all keep helping each other.
I have heard of doing the one side mod on the stanley I. My only problem is I am not really sure why it is a beneficial mod to the fan. Why do you want the blower to only pull from one side?
it already pulls from just one side ..the other side is just vented to cool the motor..if you wanted to make a cool tube for your lites is about the only reason i can figure why youd want to change it ..but i just use it as is ..i even used a cardboard box for my exhuast side as a reducer and hooked a exhuast hose ,like on a dryer..vents right under my house...pulls all the stink of weed right out...
walmart is were i bought mine and i paid 39 bucks for it ..i bought another at the end of last summer for 20 bucks at the same walmart.[always nice to have one on hand ]..i also see they put fans, like box fans and pivoting fans on sail for like 3 to 7 bucks..always walk those areas when ever your in those stores ya never no when a mark down in price ..they dont advertise these cuts so keep your eyes red and peeled ..haha..
mine's in the mail, well it will be if HD ever ships it.. but anyway..
also in the mail is my 600w hps system with a glass sealed hood with 6" inline flanges. going to be flowering in about a week
here's the setup i think i'm going to run with; (q's to follow )
9'x3.5'x7.5' closet in basement will be surrounded by mylar, will have 4-5 plants flowering (mostly bagseeds), other side will be for vegging
mounting everything is going to be a pita, and i still can't decide whether to use 4" or 6" ducting..
the hood and the filter all have 6" flanges, now with a 4" setup i'd have to get 5 reducers, 2 for the hood, 2 for the fan and one for the scrubber. would that work, or just be ineffective and loud?
The outlet/exhaust is 4in, so if it all was 6" ducting would it be a big issue to push all that out of a 4" reducer into the ceiling? or would there be to much backpressure? making outlet bigger isn't really an option.
the DIY scrubber is going to be made like this one 8" outer 6" inner
noob here, tell me this setup will at least work! any tips, suggestions, constructive criticism welcome!!
looks like it should work out fine that set up .sb...i just started to hear a noise my stanleys starting to make ..this is my second grow using this blower and it has been running nonstop for almost a yr..i am just finishing up this last grow and will clean it up a bit and see were the noise is coming from and try a diffrent setting ..i run mine now on the middle setting ...i did score another one of these at the end of last summer for 20 bucks so i am still good to go even if this one shits the bed ..walmart seems to be the place to find these the cheapest and in fact i will be shopping for a new one if the one i am running is dieing ..always nice to have an extra on hand ..back up's are always needed ..haha..
What section of HD, Lowes or Walmart are you likely to find these blowers in? I've looked in Tools, Painting and Electrical... maybe I'm blind or something.
i'm using one in my homebox xl that is literally right at the foot of my bed and i have no probs sleeping at night. sounds pretty much just like a normal house fan would.
My plants seem really dried out/crispy and I've narrowed it down to my air flow.. I think the Stanley is too much for a cab my size. Is there a safe way to speed control it? The lowest setting is still too much..
