SSH and Skunk Haze

G

Guest

I'm just going to get this started before I go to bed. Going hunting in the AM.

As you'll see I began with more than SSH and Sk Haze. None of my Malawi Gold sprouted. Only one Durban Poison sprouted and I found it to be a male just today. I saved him for breeding since he was a very healthy plant.

The pictures have the date inbedded in the address. I begin each picture with the month and day, e.g a pic with 1019 was taken October 19th. The rest of the labeling is pretty self explanatory.

I get more growing data edited in later on tomorrow evening.

October 9th just popping out of the ground

I believe in going with the best in this case (Mr Nice and Shantibaba)

October 16th. Exactly a month ago. These were 2 inches tall. They are now 20+ inches and have been topped. The rate of growth for these haze hybrids is incredible.

Here they are on October 18th...beginning to grow. Those are 9oz Solo cups. I like clear containers to keep check on root health and development. I cover them with the blue cups...even though I'm unconvinced that light hurts the roots, especially soft fluorescent light.

October 20th All the pics here are on the 20th. Look how fast they grow!!

Here's a little on my grow setup. I have a mom and clone setup using fluorescent lights. Two identical fixtures , one over the other. Each with 4 48" T-8's for about 10K lumens, More than plenty light for vegging. My plants thrived under these lights for over a month. Track shelving with 1x12s in pics, Now I have 1x16 shelves 48" long. Easy to move either lights or shelves up or down. Very flexible arrangement.

Flowering goes on in my HydroHut "mini". 430W Hortilux EYE. 12lb carbon scrubber. I highly recommend the mini for small grows like mine. VERY easy and quick to setup and take down.
Very well constructed. The very MINOR problems are easily fixed. Don't let people jerk you off about Hydrohuts.

I like the Dayton squirrel cage type blowers because they are quieter than Vortex types in my opinion and experience. This one a 465 is pulling through a scrubber that's in the hut. As you see, completely unmuffled and I have neighbors right above me. I also have people walking by the closed window all the time. No problem with noise.

This blower is a 95cfm for fresh air to the grow. It's a squirrel cage too. Made for a bathroom exhaust vent.

Jumping ahead to October 27th. You can see hoiw they have grown in a week or so. Now in 1L clear painters pots from WalMart. Real easy to get them out of these without tearing them up. Can be reused easily. I cover them with a piece of white paper taped with blue tape...for the roots. You can see where I topped some of them.

This is now November 2nd

Now at November 4th All the rest are from November 4th. Just top and side views of the plants .

Now at November 8th

Here is how I transplanted this SkunkHaze #1 from the 1L round paint pots to a 3L square pot made from a candy container. Square pots are more efficient for the same space. 25% more soil for same round pot footprint. This Skunk Haze roots found their way to the outside of this new pot in 2 days. All these plants have extremely dense, white, very hairy roots. I let them get pretty close to rootbound, if not rootbound, before I transplant. This will result in a plant having a very healthy massive (for its size) root system. Healthy plants will always do the best.

You'll see that I have taken cuts from lower nodes on them.

This is Skunk Haze #2. It had been topped but was growing too fast so I supercropped it a day or so before this picture.
Still November 8th here.

Here is the grow on November 8th

These are pictures of my Durban Poison which turned out to be a male. I was going to keep it until today. I found out I have a SSH male. I think I will keep it instead...unless I can figure out how to keep both.

These were taken Nov 17th. This would be first week of 10/14. The 3 ThaiTanics are still in there.

These were all taken on Nov 22nd. The plants are roughly 6 weeks old. They have been in 10/14 roughly a week to 10 days. They are in 3L square clear containers. The roots are white and healthy. These plants are growing vigorously.

SkHaze#1 was 1st into 10/14 and is confirmed female

SkHaze1

SkHaze2 is unknown sex att

SkHaze2

SSH#1 I am 90+% sure is female. I should know Saturday after I come back from hunting.

SSH1

SSH3 is about a week behind SSH1. Probably won't know sex until next week

SSH3

Here they all are at the moment. Hydrohut is easy to clean and keep clean. I like that feature

I have a new camera now. MUCH better camera (8 MegPixel vs 3M) that I can do macros with and so picture quality as I go into flower should be a lot better.

I'm also going to begin my flower date when I see the plant is flowering e.g. definite pistil formation, not when the plant went to 10/14. The Skunk Haze went to 10/14 on about Nov 11th. I saw definite pistils on November 20th. Nov 20th is Day 1 of flower. Or it's going to be Day 1 in MY grow because it is my grow.:sasmokin:

Ok. Got a new camera(Olympus Stylus 820 8 Mpixel), but I'm not up on using it yet. Forgive the light balance in the latest pics.

SSH3 did turn out to be a male. He is with SSH2. I may keep both.

Here is what I am left to grow out. One SuperSilverHaze and one SkunkHaze.
I did some more pruning and tying down. I need to keep these to about 40 inches. They are about 22-24" now :( Gonna be interesting huh?

SSH is front

Here is the SSH about two days flowering

SSH

And here is the Skunk Haze. It is about a week to 10 days ahead of the SSH

Looks like nobody is interested in a thread unless it has "pretty flower pictures"

Hi man

Nice thread, only just found it. Interested in the SSH, heard there are 3 killer phenos to look out for - a 9 weeker that is really killer, a 10 weeker that is the catpiss some folks rave abotu and an 11 weeker than is also killer, hard to go wrong with SSH! The SkunkHaze might surprise you and become very Hazy in flower, so be preparing to bend and tie her down, I kept a cut of Haze x Skunk #1 for a couple of years, produced fantastic buds and was very Hazy, but she had 3x stretch and needed a lot of bondage to keep manageable.

Hey MT, don't give up, just takes time to make friends, lots of peeps around here. Your grow looks great, nice strains. Hey at least one SSH is a female, it'll be like xmas waiting to see which pheno it is. Hope it's not the "wild" pheno. By the way can I borrow your digi cam? I'm using a 2 MP Sony :( NS

Thanks guys. I was just getting a bit anxious over my plants I think. These haze hybrids are new to me and Lordy, they do like to grow!

Shantibaba has the real deal SSH as far as I'm concerned. This plant has some vigor. I wish y'all could have seen how badly broken one of the four main stems was when I supercropped it. I had to lay it on the fan leaf below to keep it from breaking clean off. That thing was well on way to healing in 48 hours. The distal end never frigging wilted!! Amazing plant.

I think I pushed them a bit this last feed. A little burning on lowest fans. Tips of the rest still look fine. I took pics just before lights out but something went wrong and the resolution sucked. This cam is smarter than I am. I'm having trouble getting the lighting and/or flash correct.

One of my males has fine yellow "speckles" all thru the lowest big fans. Whats that about? K issue?

Ok here we are on the weekend of Dec 8&9. Here is my Skunk Haze the day before transplanting up to 11L pots. Not much smell to her until you begin messing around with her then she smells a bit skunky. Many nodes blooming. I like that.
