Spray adhesive: Best way to use it?

Thinking about using 3M spray-on adhesive to attach some panda-film to my cabinet walls (unless you convince me not to :D). I have little experience using this stuff, so I need advice on how to properly apply it. Do I spray the panda-film first and then attach it to the walls? or vice-versa? Also, am I supposed to apply it in coats like spray paint?

The 3m stuff is great. There are differing grades of it, but for panda film any will do.

Spray a light coat on one surface, and another light coat on the other surface. Let them set for a minute or two before joining them. There is a fine line between the coats being too wet to hold and the point where they will lock in. So, don't screw around too long.

EDIT
If it were me, I would glue velcro strips to my cab walls and hang the film with that.

Forget spray adhesive. That shit is SO messy and it doesn't really hold that well in my experience. I've gone to just using watered down Elmer's glue. Mix it about 2 parts glue to 1 part water (or just use the glue straight - the water just makes it spread a little easier). Get a couple of those foam brushes from a craft store. Brush on a THIN coat of glue with the foam brush, lay the panda down and then use a dry paint roller to smooth everything.

The reason I use the foam brushes is because they're like 69 cents each and I can just throw them away when I finish.

I've had great success with spray on adhesive and poly film.

hoosierdaddy explained on how to properly use it.

It won't take much force to peel it off and it'll come off pretty clean, but if you leave it alone, it isn't going to fall :]

I second Crash-n-Burn. Spray adhesive costs 12 dollars per can at my local HD, it gets all over, it's hard to know how long to let the glue dry/cure before sticking on the wall (a crucial stage). I ended up stapling the panda, but I wish I had used some watered down glue!

Just finished veg cab with spray

Just finished veg cab with spray

:woohoo:
Finished a veg cab last night, my project took a week to make due to rips lol :abduct:

The best way I found to apply the adhesive is sections at a time with a clean cloth or clean cotton glove. I also used a tool to gently smudge and work the film & glue together evenly and working out air pockets. Time consuming if you want to be very neat but ima lady so I always like to have my projects neat. :joint:
Then let the glue cure for 24 hours. Walahhh....

Works good for emergency blankets too

Peace

The spray adhesive is dry enough when you can touch it and nothing sticks to your fingers.

A good way to hang the Panda film is to use 1"x2" bats with screws. That way you can get the film nice and flat and it is easy to remove if you ever want to replace it.

Staples rust.

Glad to see a few other people chime in with positive results. I was a bit skeptical myself :]
